Uninstalling Norton and Skype

Ok, computer folks, I have a Toshiba laptop that runs Windows 10 (I bought it with Windows 8 and one day Microsoft forcibly updated it to 10 despite my clicking the NO button repeatedly). It came pre-installed with Norton and Skype. I use this annoying computer entirely for working on Word and Excel documents, nothing else. I refuse to pay Norton any money, so every day it sticks up an annoying message about how my computer is about to be devoured by sharks or something if I don’t pay up. I can’t uninstall the Norton. Every time I go to the Uninstall window and tell it get rid of Norton, it claims it is about to, tells you to wait, and nothing happens. Skype will uninstall, but every time Microsoft updates its systems, it re-appears. There are also several inane games I keep uninstalling, and they keep re-appearing after an update.

I have actually considered disconnecting the internet from the computer and manually transferring the Word files back and forth from a different computer, but that seems kind of stupid.

Go to this page on the Symantec site and download the Norton removal tool. See if that works better for you.

Then I would suggest turning on Windows Defender if you haven’t done so already to protect your system. Defender is free with Windows, is not a resource hog, and works well IMHO.

Get Revo Uninstaller. www.revouninstaller.com
That runs whatever uninstall process came with the product, then does several additional steps to clear out all trace of the unwanted software. I always use it.

Thanks! that worked really well.
