Yes, it is. It was a bit of an extreme example to establish the baseline that displaying a Nazi flag does not always mean those individuals are calling for murder or genocide. Can we at least agree on that simple truth?

No, dude. Displaying a nazi flag may not mean the person supports murder and genocide, but it’s close enough that I wouldn’t care to try and split that hair. Just no. if a person displays a nazi flag, I’m comfortable calling that person a genocide supporting asshole.

Hey look, here it is in the pit thread I started that you are participating in. I’ve said it four or five times today but here I am calling out violent rhetoric in that very thread.

Pay attention to the subject of the conversation before assuming you know where I stand. As regards whether a Nazi’s swastika flag means ‘‘kill all the Jews’’ or ''well maybe not kill, but let’s just deport them, okay?" I’m giving them no benefit of the doubt. They advocate genocide. Period.

It’s not a defense of Nazis. It’s a defense of free speech and the right to protest.

There were white nationalist in riot gears and carrying torches ! They were there
to more than protest ,they were there to terrorize people and do bodily harm to innocent people and took great care to protect their cowardly self !
19 people were ran over and one killed and 2 police were killed were their copper cash. And one of those people injury is on of our member’s wife and I hope she will have a speedy recovery. I have tears in eyes as I type this . This was my biggest fear when trump won there were going to riots started by KKK etc .

If this is now trump going “to made America ‘great’ again” I want no part of it !

On the other hand, for someone who’s family was not directly affected, who is not Jewish or Rom or homosexual or one of the specifically targeted groups, not knowing the phrase “blood and soil” or the hidden subtext within it is not so unlikely.

You can be ignorant of these things without being a Holocaust denier, or Nazi.

We should fight ignorance, not each other.

OTOH, when informed about these things, HurricaneDitka continued to insist that it wasn’t really “chanting for murder”. He went on to try and pretend that the Charlottesville Nazis, carrying a Nazi flag while chanting Nazi slogans, might be doing it for any number of innocent reasons.

That makes him a Nazi apologist. This isn’t fighting him. It’s just calling a spade, a spade.

I admit that some arguments to that effect were made in this thread.

But that does not appear to be current ongoing argument. It’s all about minimizing what these Nazi “protesters” did. You have them called just “not nice.” You hear their symbols being treated as not meaning what they obviously mean. We have them using the chants used on Jews as not condoning violence. We have looking for excuses for why the terrorist might not be a Nazi. We have arguments about how the far left is just as bad.

I think the semantic nit picking here is around whether or not Nazis regalia should be considered inciting violence and therefore banned. That’s the start of a slippery slope, but admittedly the Nazis are way way up that slope. I don’t think our democracy collapses if we banned Nazi rallies but I don’t see it making a difference. The same people with the same ideas would March, just minus the Nazi stuff.

And then, let’s look at how the right reacts to BLM. Do they see most of them as good upstanding individuals who are championing for things they disagree with? No, they’re violent thugs, based on the small amount of violence. Antifa is a terrorist organization for the same reason.

Normally it takes one act of violence for you to stop with the freedom of speech arguments. But here you are still making it. Sure seems like you are just using it to defend the awful things on the right.

And don’t get me started with the whole SJW thing, where the right is constantly arguing they should not be allowed to protest someone coming to speak on their colleges. Conveniently, the left is always violent, while the right isn’t.

Just in general, it’s hard to think the right cares about actual freedom of speech. At least, the more vocal right.

Clearly there’s hypocracy on both sides. Personally, I don’t see it as a left/right continuum. It’s more like a horseshoe where the extremes on both sides are more similar to each other than the middle.
