I don’t often agree with duffer (I usually just lurk in the sorts of threads where he often posts), but I usually enjoy his posts and his self-deprecation.
Oh, that is SO unfair. I was going to pick you on the grounds that you have such …er… stunning, I think is the word, fashion sense.
Okay, I’ll go with Cowgirl Jules, because she’s quite intelligent, and always has something relevant to say, and besides, she proposed to me in that thread months ago.
Damn it! I wanted Liberal, if for nothing else than that beautiful defense of Bobby Fischer he wrote ages ago.
Anyway, I’m adopting danceswithcats. He’s a Republican, but wrote a wistfully sweet haiku in the post-election haiku thread and has an awesome screen name. Something tells me he’s probably a pretty swell person to hang out with.
I would like to adopt Tars Tarkas, because though I think his views are left of mine, he seems like a good, witty guy.
Wait a minute… Tars isn’t a paying Charter Member and hasn’t posted here in months. Where has my baby gone? He could be out anywhere on the streets of the internet, cold and alone, passed out in a puddle of vomitous posts from some other message board, slowly dying from cirrhosis of the brain caused by deprivation from the Dope.
Please Og, don’t let it be so.
I’m honored!
We could debate the merits of Mopar muscle cars over Chevy muscle muscle cars.
Yeah right. Like there’s a debate there.
As for my adoptee…
I went through the list. Many I just couldn’t without a snide remark.
But there is one…duffer.
Perhaps he could teach me the real game of golf. I do pretty well on Tiger Woods 2003.
Damnit, I wanted Brutus. =(
Y’all can share. Brutus won’t mind.
Once, astro said some really uneducated, inflammatory things equating indoor cats to indentured slaves. There was a scrum. Things were said, many unkind.
And yet, since that moment, he’s started some great threads, and posted a bunch of really funny, insightful things. He’s an asset to our community, and I’m glad he calls this place home.
And he’s a fellow Farker. Probably not with 60+ approved submissions like ahem moi but a Farker in good standing nonetheless, which earns him extra points.
He seems like good people. I still don’t get the cats-as-slaves correlation. I choose to believe that someone else hijacked his user name for a week.
I rarely venture into political threads, so imagine my surprise several months ago when I discovered Ivylass is a conservative.
She’s a calm, level-headed, easygoing poster, and I really enjoy reading her posts. I usually take a page from her book when she mentions parenting issues, although I’m not a parent yet - I try to stow them away for future use.

May I request FriarTed? He seems to be particularly devout and learned about things spiritual, which puts me roughly on the opposite side of the fence from him these days (I mean, I’ve gotten so far afield and it’s been a LONG time). And his writing just comes across as so sweet. I love all the additions of G. I’m sure I could learn more about Christianity than I remember from my own early fundamentalist days and in a more beneficial way. Especially now that I don’t have any clue as to what I am. Religion-wise, that is.
So, sir, you interested?
::: stands all awkward and waits with embarassment :::
Awww. I thought I’d end up like the geeky fat kid who never gets picked to be on a sports team 'til dead last. Thanks, chatelaine.
I am a rabid atheist who wouldn’t believe God was, well, himself, if he showed up, made water into wine, fed my entire family with only a crumb and a fish head, and then made my mentally handicapped sister healthy, hearty, and hale but I truly enjoy Polycarp’s posts, even the ones about Christianity despite my massive prejudice against the religion.
Yeah, I know, I’m kind of cheating as I don’t know ANYONE that dislikes **Poly **but I can’t think of any more conservatives that haven’t been named already and there’s no way in hell I’m going to say a homophobe is a nice guy otherwise.
OK, I’ll opt for Abbie Carmichael. We don’t see eye to eye on anything, but she just started an interesting thread specifically for people who believe life starts at conception, that souls exist and inhere in the body at that point, and asked them for their opinions and thoughts on the implications of in vitro fertilization, where many ova are fertilized and frozen but only a few deployed.
I found it a provocative question and the answers an interesting read.
Well, I’m an evil conservative. I’d say jjimm be orrite. Also most of the Aussies and Kiwis I know here are liberal-left, and I find them to be intelligent and reasonable. Most of 'em, that is.
Aar screw it, as a Conservative, MOST of the people on this board are on the other side of politics to me, and most of you are pretty cool. Group hug, etc…
I’m gonna take mangeorge in. I don’t think we agree on much of anything, but we’ll see how it goes.
Well, I’ll take dropzone because at least he apologized when he yelled at me
and he seems like a pretty smart fella. Unless of course he is a she and then she seems like a pretty smart gal.
yes danceswithcats writes really good haiku so if he ever needs a second adopter you can count on me.
Why, thank you! Actually, I’m more a libertarian than a conservative.
I wouldn’t mind adopting elucidator. I think he and I are as far apart as possible, but he can turn a phrase like no one’s business.
I guess he and Elza can take turns beating up on me.

Unofficial Time Out!
How in the hell have you gotten 60+ approved submissions at Fark!!!
I’ve gotten one stinking one. And it was a school shooting in Sacremento…Ahhhh yes…the good old days when kids shot each other and it still made the news…I’ve decided that Drew hates me. Maybe because I haven’t ponied up the money for TotalFark.

Well, you’re going to have to fight me for him. Every time I get nice and cheesed at him, he goes and understands my point, and then has the audacity – the AUDACITY – to respectfully disagree. Farging bastige.
Still, I’ll adopt him anyway.
I had a privellege to exchange views and interpretations of ancient history with Diogenes the Cynic and I remain impressed with his scope of knowledge and command of the subject. Unfortunately, he is unable to maintain composure and detachment when it comes to sordid issues of present day politics, which is disappointing in a true philisophe.
Still, had I not been Iskander, I should have liked to be Diogenes.
