Unknown Windows Chime

My work computer was just updated to Windows 11. And now I’m getting one of those chimes every few minutes, like the computer has a notification for me. But I am not getting any notification on-screen.

Is there a place I can see a log of notifications and see what its problem is? The chime is driving me nuts.

Try Windows Key + “A” to show recent notifications.

Goto sound settings in settings. Choose More Sounds. Pick sounds out of the 4 columns on the top (playback, recordings, sounds, communications). I choose No Sounds as the default Sound Scheme, then Apply, then OK to close the window–if you don’t want to hear any Windows sounds at all.

Maybe you’re receiving emails.

I tried the suggestions in this thread and I don’t see any outstanding alerts.

When I receive an email, I get the little window in the lower right. This chime is not associated with those.

Try unplugging all your USB devices. I’ve had flash drives do that, keep disconnecting and connecting with accompanying sound.

Also sorta like PastTense suggested, go into your Windows sound settings and play each sound, see which event matches the sound you’re hearing.

Also since it’s a work computer you could just submit a trouble ticket, record a video with audio and show them, etc.
