Unspoiled Mystery Mafia discussion thread

If you are still in the game, stay out of this thread. It is for unspoiled discussion of the ongoing mystery mafia game.

I really don’t know how anyone can follow this game entirely. I barely was able to keep up.

I’ve read every post.

I do worry a little bit about the volume putting people off, however, although I don’t know what I can do about it. Presumably it’ll let up somewhat as more people die.

Yep, and based on what I’ve seen, that should happen rather quickly.

Except a vig dying night one ([sarcasm]nice going whoever killed him[/sarcasm]–and I know who you are!), kind of throws a bit of a wrench into people dying quickly.

And I can’t believe some of the other board denizens think the pace of posting is too slow. I fear ever playing a game on that board since I typically don’t have time to play games even in the Dope affiliated communities where the posting rate is considerably slower.

There’s a lot going on.

I hope Gad is going to be around at Day’s end (which is, iirc, fairly soon). I don’t mind doing vote counts, but I’d rather not do Dawn or Dusk post, at least without being asked to. (I should be preparing an area of Dragon Mountain right now, but I’ve postponed it until after tea.)

As I mentioned to Gadarene earlier, anyone who is actually voting for Brewha just looks scummy. There is no pro-town motivation for that vote. It’s neutral at best and very pro-scum at worst. Assuming they are town, it’s simply bad strategy. If scum, it allows the player to have on record that they voted scum without really risking anything since the scum is going to die probably anyway. If I were in the game, I would move any of the Brewha voters up on my list and vote one of them immediately just to press the attack and see what discussion breaks out. If the wagon on that voter caught on, I’d keep my vote. If not, I would switch to someone else if necessary for resolution of another lynch, and announce in thread that no one should try to heal Brewha tonight. Shoud Brewha come up town, these voters are no longer suspicious and were most likely just employing really bad strategy. (Because no scum is going to try to lynch a townie who’s going to die anyway. It’s really bad tactically. Scum want town to die as fast as possible so they’d like to see another townie lynched.) But should Brewha come up scum, you’re going to find a scum among those who were voting him.

ETA: Note that I haven’t checked the thread in about 24 hours, so I don’t know if anyone else has brought up this point since yesterday, but while people have been questioning why Brewha would be voted, no one had been really pressing the issue of how scummy it looks. Especially for Idle who was the first to vote Brewha.

Hmph.

Detective whispers on TexCat and gnarly were wrong as I suspected, brewha was scum as I suspected, and whispered as villager was guilty, as I figured one of them would be.

If a roleblocker flips scum, I can rest in peace.

Not sure what you mean about TexCat. Nobody received any message or peek that she was anything other than village mason.

This is true; the sentence structure was all wrong. Some had been suspecting TexCat heavily and gnarly as well; I was saying something about defending gnarly and TexCat at the same time (after my initial position on TexCat reversed) in spite of the detective result on gnarly, but it all ran together and got confused with TexCat.

Of the detective “results”, I felt the detective result on TexCat was the more likely one to be true, not false.

I am really loving the discussion by the players. Very smart thinkers, IMO.

Lots of quality players here, really.

PCM in 5275:

PCM didn’t ready my target and result list. pokes a ghostly finger at said list

In fact, many of the players seem to have forgotten that list. I was redirected into self-targeting N1 and got Silver Jan as a Villager. So (a) that clears her as Town and (2) makes her more likely than septimus to have been my final Night target.

What, I get Killed and everybody forgets my info? :ectoplasm:

In other matters, I think this was my best Day 1 & 2 yet.

I thought you played extremely well the whole way through, actually.

Thanks!

Every game, I flail about for the first two Days, frequently coming under suspicion and heat. Usually that’s the point where I abandon the game for a few days or months.

I finally figured out this time, I’m going to take heat, so keep people talking until they slip. Give the better early-game people stuff to work with.

However, if it wasn’t for the fun with messages and two people slipping up, I wouldn’t have found any Scum on my own. I don’t know what I could do about that.

I would have preferred Zeriel kept his role hidden a little longer, and PizzaGuy not flaming out.

quiet in here

Welcome LightFoot. Have some nachos.
