Good lord. The Devil’s Grandfather eats that stuff with cheese. I thought he was the only one.
Nacho Cheese Doritos dipped in soft/whipped cream cheese with those nasty canned Vienna Sausages on the side. Real Coke is the beverage for this. Although my high school best friend believes “sweet tea” (which is bad enough, but she made her’s with saccharin!) is the correct beverage. There’s no accounting for taste.
Not to mention naive :D, sheesh, even when I was a kid I knew why my mom did this.
Kim chee. Especially the really good stuff at the local oriental food store.
Pistachios with chocolate chips.
Italian burritos: Pesto spread on a tortilla, then add sliced olives and mozzarella cheese. Microwave for 25 seconds on high.

At last! A fellow connoisseur! The Devil’s Grandfather obviously has very good taste!
I’ll occasionally eat this stuff, too–but it has to be buttered on the holey side, not the flat side. It’s also good if, in addition to the butter and cheese, you also put on the highly-salted meat of your choice. (I’m not referring to your bog-standard salty cold cuts, but to any of the Scandinavian equivalents of prosciutto. Or think of a nice salty Virgina-style ham.)
In my dad’s dialect it’s pronounced something like “keh-neck-eh-brood”, with the final “d” not getting much emphasis.
One of my own guilty-pleasure snacks is a plain bagel with a bunch of cream cheese and bierwurst.
I also love french fries dipped in milkshakes. mmmm, yummy!! I also like tortilla chips dipped in yogurt, and Nutella and jelly on Ritz crackers. Not really a snack, but my husband will only eat pancakes with mayo spread on top and then rolled up like a taquito. I hate mayo and make him sit far away from me so I don’t have to smell it. Ewww!
Mozarella or cheddar string cheese sticks dipped in sour cream. It’s also good dipped in Ranch dressing. I can’t buy string cheese any more except in small quantities, because I eat too much of it. I’m talking 6-8 servings at a time.
DeadlyAccurate, I think I’ll have to do some research on that when I get home today!
Mmm, peanut butter and bologna sandwiches. Gotta love 'em. Oh, and mac ‘n’ cheese drowning in ketchup. I first ate it on a dare waaaaaay back when; now I can’t eat my mac ‘n’ cheese any other way.
There are a few weird things I like
Applesauce sandwiches. Just plain apple sauce on white bread with a little dash of cinnamon. I liked this a lot as a kid, but I tried it not long ago and it wasn’t as good as I had remembered.
Mock chicken sandwiches with yellow mustard and plain chips with a glass of cold milk. MmMmmmm
Uncooked hotdogs with mayo on plain bread.
Also, Lipton Chicken Noodle soup has to be accompanied with a cooked ham sandwich
And, count me in as another who can not each mac and cheese without ketchup.
Ah, St Louis Gooeybutter. Gooeybutter cake is my favorite delivery system.
1/2 cup butter
1 box yellow cake mix
3 eggs
1 - 8 oz. package of cream cheese
1/2 t almond extract
4 cups of confectioners’ sugar
Preheat oven to 350. Lightly grease one 9x13 cake pan. Melt butter. Empty cake mix into a large bowl. Stir melted butter, along with one egg, into the cake mix. Press mixture into pan. In a large bowl, mix cream cheese, almond extract, confectioners sugar and the remaining two eggs. Beat for three minutes with an electric mixer set on medium high speed. Spread over top of the cake mixture in the pan. Bake at 350 for 35-45 minutes until golden brown on top. Allow cake to cool. Dust the top with confectioners sugar. (Cake will be gooey on the top, so don’t overbake!)
It’s like eating heaven coated with sugar and butter melted together. Be glad you didn’t grow up with it.
I’ve only ever had gooey butter once. My aunt who lives in St. Louis made some for Christmas when we went to visit a few years back. It’s the richest cake I’ve ever eaten. There are recipes online; I think I’ll get someone to make some for me this Christmas.
Weirdness that I like:
Pretzels and bananas, sort of made into an improptu sandwhich with the pretezels on the outside.
Another thing that always shokes waitresses, I take my latkeys (or however your local Jewish community spells potato pancakes) with cream cheese, not sour cream. It’s much better that way.
I’ve also begun to put Frank’s hot sauce on lots of things to give them life in my spice poor apartment, damn my parents for having a good spice collection but being so hard to deal with.
In terms of mac and cheese, it has got to be homemade to be truly indulgent. I love it cold (or hot).
