Unusual (?) snack you love

Popcorn I can eat. What I really love though is when you get to the bottom of a microwave bag, you get half a dozen half popped kernels. If I could only find a way to get them all that way I would be in snack heaven. Mmmmmm, half popped pop corn.

Those neon orange “cheez and peanut butter” sandwich crackers, Dipped in chocolate milk.

Waldorf salad the way my mom makes it. Apples and raisins and celery covered with mayo. Good goodness.

And finally, I don’t care if this counts as a snack or not but Ritz crackers submerged in Spaghetti-o’s with cracked black pepper and Tabasco sauce.

I do this with homemade chicken noodle soup. I totally negate the health benefit by eating more saltines and butter than soup.

I go on and melt the chocolate right on the still warm popcorn.

Things I like better when they are together:
[ul]
[li]Saltines adn Sprite[/li][li]Dr Pepper and Lorna Doone shortbread cookies[/li][li]Pizza and rootbeer[/li][/ul]

Saltines and Sprite

Dr Pepper and Lorna Doone shortbread cookies

Pizza and rootbeer

Triskets with strawberry jam. Crunchy, salty and sweet. MMMmmmmmmm

Cottage cheese and potato chips.

Ah, sounds good!

Askia, what is gooeybutter? Somewhat akin to peanut or cashew butter?
Or am I way off?

Nabisco vanilla wafers spread with butter
Slice of toast spread with strawberry jam, wrapped around a Farmer John link sausage
Boiled potatoes topped with anchovy fillets

Baloney in a bagel with a bit of onion and microwaved for a minute.
Another good snack is raisins and cheddar cheese.

Cottage cheese, wheat germ, and honey. Yum!!!

(I think my mom found it in some magazine when I was a wee tot.)

My roommate couldn’t believe that I don’t dip french fries in shakes. Couldn’t believe it at all.

Of course, this is the same person who wondered how I could drink chocolate milk straight because when she was little, her mom mixed it with equal parts white milk. She asked me if I thought chocolate milk was too strong by itself. I had to regretfully inform her that she grew up … poor.

Except for banana chips, I don’t think I’ve ever had dried or dehydrated bananas. Why would there be sulfur on them?

I guess this isn’t too weird because they sell 'em, but since no one has mentioned them: Wasabi peas. God, I love those things!

How about canned chickpeas (garbanzo beans) fried up in a little olive oil until crispy then garlic salted? Mmmm mmm good.

As a preservative, I believe. I like them without it and without sugar. Trader Joe’s and farmers’ markets have them both ways.
They are softer than the chips and without any kind of glaze on them.
Another favorite: cold Brussels sprouts with a bit of butter or lemon juice.
Yummmmmmm.

I had drinks and snacks last night at a friend’s house and he makes the most wonderful thing. He fries some bacon – crisp – then crumbles it and mixes it with some Major Grey’s mango chutney then puts the mixture on top of a wheel of Brie and serves it with table water crackers. I thought it was odd until I tried it, but it’s one of my favorite things to eat now.

I love Frosties and fries! Mmmmmm!!!

I also love:

Ruffles potato chips and lime jello.
Cottage cheese and captain’s wafer crackers

And my favorite “chips on a sandwich” combo is Ruffles and pimento cheese.

:drooling smiley:

The kind I have had have all been hard, crunchy, and had a sweet honey glaze on them.

And sulfur’s a preservative? Huh. I guess the stench drives away all the microbes or something.

Cornbread and grapefruit juice

Mayonnaise on Saltines. And I’m not the kind of person who likes mayonnaise every time I encounter it.

Lately I’ve been having some kind of insane craving for sour cream. I’m eating it at nearly every meal. (Did you know it’s good on eggs?) The other day I dumped the crumbs from a bag of chips into a container of sour cream and ate it with a spoon. MMMMM!

Now, that’s hilarious.

Blech. I guess I should have known better than to open this thread while recovering from a bout of food poisoning. My fave snack in my current very-pregnant state is doritos with cottage cheese. That is, as soon as I graduate from bananas and gatorade to real food again…
