Looks like my thread with upside down english was closed for being “annoying as shit.”
Sorry I annoyed. Was not my intent. I thought it was actually a fun “mundane pointless” bit of internet magic to share.
We seemed to all be having a good time, I wasn’t doing anything to be a jerk, and I really don’t think my thread deserved to be closed.
I also really didn’t appreciate the way it was closed. Being told that someone’s post is “annoying as shit” is certainly not the most polite way of putting it.
If I had posted the title of the thread as something like “What does upside down english look like?” and then posted a link to the website with a bit of text as an example, would that have been annoying as shit too?
If it was just the thread title and the body of my first post, could a moderator please change it to what I suggested and reopen the thread?
No, I would not have closed such a thread. I’m sorry I was rude; I was trying to be funny and I’m sorry if that is not how I came off. I felt the text upside down was difficult to read; even with my iPad I was unable to turn it around right … But probably if I adjusted a setting I could have.
But anyway, most people are reading on a computer screen and it seemed too tedius a thing to permit. I’m sorry that I offended you.
I thought it was mundane and amusing, and forwarded the link within to a couple of friends.
MUCH less annoyng than most of the TV show/commercials you hate/YouTube/yet more stupid commercials you hate threads. I’m not interested in those, I don’t own a TV and am not interested, no biggie, I don’t open them.
I vote for it being re-opened, only because IMHO it’s several thousand metric ton less offensive to me than all of the TV/commercial threads. Which I find beyond tedious and uninteresting, but somehow I muster the will to carry on regardless.
(Not to beat a dead horse or anything - I simply don’t open threads I’m not interested in. I know, elegantly stunning in its simplicity; an astonishing notion. But there you go.)
I will never understand closings like this. I love you Ellen - really I do - but it’s not like there was critical info being disseminated that just had to be read. It was just a bunch of posters goofing around and having fun.
I liked this thread. I was having fun, and it had potential for some really funny lines.
I admit I was using a little known Windows trick for reading parts of it…control-alt-up arrow flips the screen for you. control-alt-down arrow puts it back to normal.
But yeah…there are lots of threads I don’t read…some I’m not interested in, some I actually find annoying. I just avoid them. I don’t expect them to be closed. It’s not like we can only have so many threads at any point in time, and this one was taking up space that a “better” thread could have used.
