Upside-down english thread closed

Looks like my thread with upside down english was closed for being “annoying as shit.”

Sorry I annoyed. Was not my intent. I thought it was actually a fun “mundane pointless” bit of internet magic to share.

We seemed to all be having a good time, I wasn’t doing anything to be a jerk, and I really don’t think my thread deserved to be closed.

I also really didn’t appreciate the way it was closed. Being told that someone’s post is “annoying as shit” is certainly not the most polite way of putting it.

If I had posted the title of the thread as something like “What does upside down english look like?” and then posted a link to the website with a bit of text as an example, would that have been annoying as shit too?

If it was just the thread title and the body of my first post, could a moderator please change it to what I suggested and reopen the thread?

No, I would not have closed such a thread. I’m sorry I was rude; I was trying to be funny and I’m sorry if that is not how I came off. I felt the text upside down was difficult to read; even with my iPad I was unable to turn it around right … But probably if I adjusted a setting I could have.

But anyway, most people are reading on a computer screen and it seemed too tedius a thing to permit. I’m sorry that I offended you.

Ellen

I thought it was fun.

I thought it was mundane and amusing, and forwarded the link within to a couple of friends.

MUCH less annoyng than most of the TV show/commercials you hate/YouTube/yet more stupid commercials you hate threads. I’m not interested in those, I don’t own a TV and am not interested, no biggie, I don’t open them.

I vote for it being re-opened, only because IMHO it’s several thousand metric ton less offensive to me than all of the TV/commercial threads. Which I find beyond tedious and uninteresting, but somehow I muster the will to carry on regardless.

(Not to beat a dead horse or anything - I simply don’t open threads I’m not interested in. I know, elegantly stunning in its simplicity; an astonishing notion. But there you go.)

Thank you for the apology, no hard feelings here!

What a silly reason to close it. The fact that it was upside-down and difficult to read is part of the fun, i assume.

Thanks for saving us from ourselves yet again.

I will never understand closings like this. I love you Ellen - really I do - but it’s not like there was critical info being disseminated that just had to be read. It was just a bunch of posters goofing around and having fun.

I liked this thread. I was having fun, and it had potential for some really funny lines.

I admit I was using a little known Windows trick for reading parts of it…control-alt-up arrow flips the screen for you. control-alt-down arrow puts it back to normal.

But yeah…there are lots of threads I don’t read…some I’m not interested in, some I actually find annoying. I just avoid them. I don’t expect them to be closed. It’s not like we can only have so many threads at any point in time, and this one was taking up space that a “better” thread could have used.

Are you trying to get this thread locked, too!? Next thing you know, there will threads discussing drugs!

Agreed. The thread should not have been closed.

Well, it should have at least been in a spoiler tag, to meet the two-click rule.

Seriously, what’s the harm in the thread? Too much fun?

There’s precedent for this:

I had more fun with that tuby.tv link that was included on that page.

There’s precedent for a silly moderating decision on the SDMB?

Color me unsurprised.

What color would you like?

Open another thread, then, with the title normal. I promise to be only annoyed as doo-doo. :stuck_out_tongue:

Overzealous moderation is annoying as shit.

Well pfft. I communicated with the other MPSIMS mods; I’ll open I back up. Enjoy.

Dammit, but I had but a mere minute to enjoy my recreation outrage.

Seriously, I’m appreciative of you rethinking this
