Aggghhh… I had my original T-Mobile Sidekick Color pickpocketed and I got an used Sidekick off E-bay. I just got it… the idle screen, where it says “Press Menu + X to unlock device”, there is a message written on the center of the screen that says “Detanation sequence in 3 2 1 … KaBooM”
My question is, is it possible to put a message on the idle screen, and how do I change that? Or, is this indeed atypical and I should bring it to the police or something?
BTW, my boss called T-Mobile and they never got this message before and they didn’t know of a way to put a custom message across the idle screen.
I was just Googling around looking for an answer to this since I’m doing whatever I can to avoid doing paperwork. I couldn’t find anything specific to customizing a message for that screen but then I thought that perhaps it’s just a wallpaper or desktop image with that text ? Sorry I couln’t be more helpfull than that but I’ll keep looking since that paperwork is still just sitting there.
Thanks… I just got in touch with the seller by phone. He claimed that he bought it from someone else, and that the message was already there, and he didn’t know how to change it. Now that I knew he could use it without it exploding, I felt safe enough to fiddle with the controls. There was an undocumented option (well-hidden in the controls) to put a custom message up on the idling screen.
