Well, shit-on-a-shingle, does this mean whoever gets eliminated on Wednesday is eligible to compete in the ‘back-in-the-house’ challenge on Thursday???
Lola, no. The returning houseguest will be coming in as the evicted hamster leaves. We don’t know if there will be a 2nd return after the next four evictions or not. But if so, the evicted hamster from this week would compete in that one.
I’m so hoping this week turns into a classic decoy-turnaround. I can stand Josh being in the house longer if it means that the Genius-in-his-own-mind will be saying bye-bye.
Handy, Bunky doesn’t really like Marcellas. He (Bunky’s) not the “cashmere and pearls type.”
Noooooooooooo!!!
Can we PLEASE be rid of the great Satan for once and for alllll???
Apparently the Powers That Be don’t know the meaning of ‘for once and for all’… The more I think about an evicted hamster getting to coming back - the more it irks me. How many times will majority have to vote someone out? Apparently once is not enough.
And Chiwhorea isn’t the smartest cookie in the jar now is she?! If you go around telling/asking everyone in the house to vote for Josh… then you’re not exactly proving that you don’t have an alliance with your lover (D’oh!). Who exactly does she think she is fooling?
My reluctant vote (if it were to matter) for who gets to come back… Amy.
My take is that the “vows” not to evict Shoddy are meaningless, having been made under duress. Did you catch the conversation between the Hoh and Lisa/Dani in the bedroom on the show last night? Something along the lines of “Do I have your promise that if I put Roddy and Josh up, you’ll vote to evict Josh. And realize that if you refuse, you’re basically selecting yourself for nomination.” Gee, Skank-ho, ya think threats like this are going to endear you to your grrrl-sistahs?
I can’t blame Jason for needing to vote with the Genius-in-his-own-mind, considering that he was absolutely in major danger after the vote-switch last week, not to mention a need to keep his alliance with Denial a secret. If they can vote Shoddy out without his help, he’ll be in a major position to put the Hoh in a place where she’s extremely vulnerable. She’s almost certain to turn to him as her only anchor/support in the house if Shoddy goes, and he can easily set her up for the fall. His refusal to play the Alliance game this week isn’t so much moral as it is strategic.
I have to love Zzzzerry’s parting Diary Room shot last night, though. “I swore on my dead mother that I would vote Josh out, but I think my mother would understand.” Hee-HEE! I love it. There’s a diabolical wheeler-dealer behind that C-PAP mask (although as a fellow C-PAP user, I may be biased!) :D.
As far as the returnee, I’ve already made my distaste/curiousity clear. I don’t think it’s fair, and I think it’s pretty arbitrary, but I also think it could shake things up a little. It also makes (to my mind, anyway) it imperative to vote out Shoddy this week, on the off chance that Eric is the one coming back. They need to make sure the Couples Remnant is weakened enough that the return of an evicted member won’t damage the Secret Alliance’s game too much. And honestly, how can anyone resist the temptation to stick a nice sharp fork in the sacrificial pig that’s been offered up on that skanky platter?
These people need me in there…
Oh, may I just interject my distaste for just about everyone in the house (including my darling Marcellas and the lovely virgin boy)? They really need to stop snarking behind Zzzzerry’s back. Really, really, really need to stop. I may have a sore spot here, because that is one thing I cannot stand in people. If you have a problem with someone, whether it’s a hygiene problem, a personality problem, a housekeeping problem, or whatever, if you really want the problem to stop, you talk to the person involved. You don’t spend hours (weeks!) complaining behind his back with your other junior high classmates…er, houseguests. This is one of the reasons I have a soft spot for Lori, despite everyone else’s assertion that she was a psycho. She confronted Denial about the handwashing thing, and forced her to actually talk to Zzzerry about it. This was the adult thing to do, and the right thing to do. I don’t blame her at all for going ballistic about the snarkfest that was going on at the couches. When I saw this happening, my first thought was “You go, girl!”, not “What a nut!” This was actually the real beginning of my Dani-Dislike (I can’t say hate…she’s too good a player for me to hate). I probably would have done the same thing (and ended up voted off, I admit). Junior high behavior among 20-and-30-somethings is stomach-turning to me.
Looking over the Live Feed recaps:
Looks like Josh was doing the Josh-thing and whining about the threats that Hoh was making when securing the votes against him. Which I don’t blame him for…I’ve noted my discomfort with that kind of strongarm tactic on the part of a houseguest who’s only temporarily safe from eviction. Apparently Their Majesties commanded an audience with the knave in the throne room and they had it out. Blahblahblahconflictcakes, as the Twoppers would say.
Lisa has expressed to Denial that even if Eric did return to the house, she would still be aligned against Shoddy and the Hoh for what they tried to do to her. Big sigh of relief here…
And a note on the show last night. Isn’t it wonderful that CBS is finally showing the Hoh as she truly is instead of trying so hard to paint her as the Girl Next Door? She only the GND if you live next the Rising Sun…

Uh-oh! Trouble in virgindise! The Hoh has figured out that even if she does die while on a holy war for Big Brother, she won’t go to heaven and be served by 71 Jasons. Chiara apparently did not buy Jesus VBD’s back and fill about why he voted Eric out. She doesn’t trust him. And he doesn’t know it! A banner, a banner, my kingdom for a banner! “Jason! You’re in danger!”
Of course, if the Hoh is up to her usual form, she’ll manage to spew that very useful information to the wrong person before Wednesday and Jason can vote the right way…bye-bye, Shoddy.
Ahh…my man Marcellas did the right thing, despite Denial’s desparate attempts to continue the junior high snarkfest against Zzzzerry. He got up early this morning so he could talk to Gerry alone. He brought up all the things that the hamsters are using to verbally stab him in the back…every. single. thing. The coughing, the washing the clothes in the sink, the workout sweat, the double-dipping, the handwashing. I’m so proud of Marcy! He still has a conscience, yay!
I don’t know about you folks, but if there was something I was doing that I wasn’t aware of that was causing major discomfort among the people I was forced to interact with, I’d want to know about it. It’s only fair…you can’t change something if you’re not aware it’s a problem. Withholding that information so that the person who has to tell me about it can escape the greater discomfort of confronting me is selfish and childish. Withholding that information so that you have something to make fun of is worse than that. Grow up, Dani.

Speaking of banners, are they flying planes at all this season? I’ve heard nothing about banners yet.
I’ll take you at your word, and ask you if you could please dispense with the insider nicknames and jargon so I can follow what you write. I feel like I would benefit greatly from your commentary if only I could understand it.
Do you know who has won veto power yet? The suspense is killlllling me. Heaven help me if I ever have to wait til Wednesday night - thats just not enough time to ponder the possibilities…
Libertarian:
I’ll try, but the last thing I want to do is turn what I write into a text version of Julie Chen’s Jack Webb impression. “Just the facts, ma’am”…
callie:
I don’t remember if I covered it or not above, but Lisa got the veto, and decided not to use it.
Generally:
Just checked the recaps board and apparently Roddy is lording his safe position over everyone. Josh is sulking in the cot room, and playing with the lizards (who are the only things in the house that will talk to him, other than Diary Room producers). From what I gathered, he had an outburst during the Veto Ceremony and now everyone’s kind of freaked out about being in the house with him for the next three days.
The boy’s gonna mess up my mastermind plan and make them vote to evict him out of pure fear. Dammit. Shut the hell up, Josh! Roddy’s gotta go!
Do any of you know how much I’d pay just to see Roddy’s face if they announced his eviction on Thursday?
Did I mention that I’m not an unbiased reporter?

Oh, and Lola, apparently they have watchers stationed a couple miles out during the day to keep an eye on any banner-deploying aircraft and report back to the studio. Big Brother then puts them in indoor lockdown until the banner is past. They’ve also all been informed that an attempt to read a banner is grounds for a penalty nomination. Of course, so is refusal to wear your microphone, or excessive conversation about people who didn’t sign releases, or anything that sounds like deliberate unofficial product endorsement/placement. None of which has yet garnered anyone a penalty nomination (Chiara would have been on the block every week on microphone violations alone). They really depend mostly on watchers and lockdowns, though.
OOhhhh, those sneaky bastards!
Thanks, JayJay
What does this mean, tho’?
Like who???
Chiara’s numerous ex-boyfriends and casual sex buddies, Zzzzerry’s ex-wife, etc. Whenever they mention someone they’re not supposed to or sing something that makes the producers nervous about copyright the live feeds go to a shot of the front of the house until they’re done talking or singing. The houseguests are warned about it often enough that they should know by now. It’s discouraged at least in part because people are paying for the live feeds “24/7” and too much cutaway annoys them.
A penalty nomination is when the producers finally get fed up with someone ignoring the rules too often and put that person up for eviction. I don’t know if the penalty nomination would be in addition to the two regular noms or in place of one of them.
These people are stupid. As much as I hate to say it (and believe me, I’m gritting my teeth in distaste here), Roddy deserves to win if the rest of these idiots don’t vote him out this week.
So Gerry goes to Josh and tells him that there’s a chance that he may be staying, as certain people have been thinking about tossing Roddy. He gives names! “Dani, for one…” The word for the day is indiscretion.
Josh goes to Dani and tries to convince her to vote to evict Roddy, and Josh promises not to vote against her if she makes the final two. This, of course, sets fire to the buried dream from the beginning of this week of evicting the biggest goddamn thread in the goddamn house, and watching Chiara swallow her own brain as a bonus.
Things get confusing at some point, and as I understand it, Josh and Roddy got into an argument on the patio about Josh campaigning against him, and things got said that shouldn’t have been said (like “some people are plotting to vote you out instead, Mr. Popular!” Okay, those may not be the exact words…) Now Marcellas goes into his patented “First-Week-Nominee I’m-A-Martyr-And-A-Saint Catalog-of-Woes” mode and calls Josh out. Marc, Marc, Marc… sigh Can’t get a drama queen to play deep strategy no matter how hard you try. While Dani watches her hard-fought dreams clatter to her feet in a shower of tiny, tiny violins with Marc’s name all over them, Marc himself storms into the house, followed by Chiara yelling back for Josh to “Fuck off!”
Later, we get their Majesties King Roddy and Queen Chiara granting an audience to the churl Marcellas, and demanding an explanation for his traitorous thoughts which led him to conider voting against His Majesty. Bleah. I’m sick of these two.
Item the 1st:
I hate Roddy and Chiara. They act like they’re the king and queen of Big Brother and everyone is expected to do as they say. Roddy’s disappointed attitude when people don’t do what he expects them to irks me. It’s as if the transgressing houseguest has been unspeakably rude and Roddy knows they were raised better than that.
Item the 2nd:
Roddy does everything he claims to hate in other people, but nobody every calls him on it! He went on and on about Josh campaigning against him but what has he done just about every waking moment since the nominations? Campaigned against Josh! Dammit, wake up, people!
Item the 3rd:
They really, really, really need Roddy gone. Really, really, really! There’s a 25% chance of a returning Eric, and that means that, even if Lisa remains faithful to the Dani/Marc/Jason alliance, the Couples will be three strong again, with Gerry as the oh-so-important swing vote that he’s been preparing to be since the game started. Even if Eric doesn’t return, there’s also a 25% chance of a returning Tonya, who’s likely to hook back up with Chiara and strengthen that group. And Roddy could convince Amy to do naked handstands in the living room given enough time and someone to distract Chiara. Roddy’s too dangerous to keep, dammit!
Ugh. Thread=threat, above.
Damn! This will be the best eviction episode YET!!!
rubs hands together
They need to start playing the game, instead of playing “he screwed me over in the first week and he’s annoying and I can’t stand him personally and and and…”
Someone shake Marcellas, please. Hard. Girlfriend needs to remember what he’s there for, and remember what he’s doing. Yes, Josh is annoying. Yes, Josh is irritating. Yes, Josh is obnoxious. But Josh is also fairly harmless. He’s not the biggest threat. As a matter of fact, he’s not in the top three biggest threats.
Roddy is the biggest threat in the whole house. Roddy is the biggest threat in the whole house. Roddy is the biggest threat in the whole house! Somebody buy me a banner…
Idiots.
I just realized why I keep getting this deja vu feeling from following the Saga of the Human Ant Farm.
Has anyone ever played a PC game called Creatures? In it, you’re basically God over a small population of endearing but really stupid humanoidish animals called Norns. You can make suggestions, in a non-verbal way, but they aren’t required to listen to you. You know what they need to survive and thrive, and it’s all over the place (food, water, mental stimulation (games, etc)), but the Norns have to figure out what to do (and sometimes have to be taught how to eat, etc.). That’s what watching the BB house reminds me of.
I can see the disparity between the threat potential of Roddy and the threat potential of Josh. I can “clearly” see that Roddy has to go, because Josh has no power whatsoever. But I can’t make the idiots in the house do what I know they have to do. It’s frustrating as hell.
I guess you can also insert a Sims comparison here, although you have a bit more control over their actions in that game.
