Okay, I’ll start it. Not that there’s ever really a whole lot to say the first episode. And even though the All-Star Season has me approaching this bunch of potential malcontents with all the self-assurance of a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.
Spoiler space, just in case…
I don’t much like the Tommy Lee clone. Actually I don’t much like any of the “enemies” at this point, but I especially don’t like Daddy Tommy…that his freakin’ DAUGHTER and he’s making fun of her like he’s in junior high.
It appears that CBS has finally figured out that the equation for the fabled Big Brother “Good TV”, as anyone who’s spent any time in any gay bar anywhere can tell you, is as follows:
Yeah, Danielle’s dad seems like a real asshole. I hope he doesn’t last long.
The hot brunette with the big tits seems like a real bitch already.
The blonde girl who is the old high school “rival” of the cute brunette (Carol?) seems kinda bitchy, too. She couldn’t even come up with a very good reason why they didn’t like each other.
Not a very ethnically diverse group, is it, even by Big Brother standards?
Y’know, I was thinking about the “Enemies” thing this morning. It seems like a last-minute addition. Only 3? Why not just make the initial group 6 and get an enemy for each of the initial group? It seems like only those three having an enemy in the house puts them at a serious disadvantage. If they all have someone who already wants them evicted, before the show even starts, and the other 8 don’t, it would seem to confer a great advantage on the 8 who don’t…
These twists almost always fall flat, though. It’s an issue for maybe a week and then the two talk it out and become a secret alliance. I’m willing to bet that at least one of the “couples” will do this.
Oh my god, like, that girl Jen, like, I can’t stand, like, listening to her, like, talk and stuff, you know? I think she’s the same “hot brunette with the big tits” as Tangent mentioned.
I don’t understand the high school (or was it middle school) enemies either. Something about $5?
My favorite part of the episode was when Julie mentioned Dr. Will.
Seems like the goal was to try and get some in-house sex happening this year (big brother after dark?), included the gay guys for prime-time drama, and included the “old guy” and “black person” for P.C. reasons.
It’s going to take something big (and fast) for me to care what happens. The “America’s Houseguest” or whatever he’s called was my pick for the third one to be evicted (after the drama queens) so I won’t be providing any input for what he should do. If I had to care about any of them at this point, then I’m least annoyed by the football guy and the black gal. But there’s nobody to have grabbed me like Kaysar did. But Kaysar was exceptional in that I liked him from the start. Every other season it took several episodes for me to warm up to any of them. So I’ll give it a week or two before deciding whether to stay watching or to load up on Netflix instead. Damn, I wish football would get here!
I’ve got it set up to record, Cervaise. But I haven’t watched last night’s yet other than a peek. From a couple of minutes, it seemed to be pretty much like the live feeds. Just switching from one part of the house to another almost randomly.
I recorded it on Showtime last night too. Liberal is right. They’re just broadcasting the live feeds from midnight to 3 a.m. (well, where I live anyway). So for those three hours you’ll get to see the houseguests in their natural habitat with no editing. I understand that they put some commercials in though.
In television audience demographics, where broadcasters desperately covet the 25-year-old viewer*, the 40-year-old guy is old. Sad but true.
*because he/she is just starting to earn respectable money but probably doesn’t yet have a family to support and therefore has a lot of disposable income without having acquired the good sense to govern spending of same
I just meant in comparison with the rest of them. It’s obvious to me that they would prefer to fill the house with young hot promiscuous white people, but include some others to not make it that obvious.
For example, Julie specifically said America could choose who their player “makes out with”.
you mean “Evil Dick”? How lame do you have to be to tell people you go by Evil Dick? I’d say the second part of the name sums him up pretty well.
After watching the Showtime live feeds for a couple of nights, I’m actually beginning to like Dick. He has a certain Jack Nicholson quality. And he’s very open, very friendly, non-judgmental, and pretty sharp. He seems to be well liked within the house as well.
Out of my own curiosity, I set the live feeds up for a season pass on my Tivo - I didn’t realize that it’s literally three hours EVERY night. Screw that! From what they were saying last night, it looks like the first two houseguests put up for eviction are
Amber and Carol ?? I know Amber is, but I couldn’t tell if Carol was. I just know she was flipping out and saying that she couldn’t handle this anymore and that it would be so much better if next week she wasn’t put up for eviction.
