US Claims Services

I started receiving letters from this company around last Christmas. So far they have sent me 3. They claim to have found money in my name in California from The Insurance Company With The Big Mediterranean Rock Logo. I showed it to my husband (who at one time sold policies for TICWTBMRL) and he asked me if I had had a policy with them. I told him I had not had one with them, but I remembered having one with The Insurance Company With The Cartoon Dog And Bird Logo that I had let lapse and never got the cash value (less than $5.00 at the time) back from them.

This morning, I was reading this thread, and I used the handy link in the OP to search for my alleged money. Sure enough, there is money (still less than $10.00) there from the policy I remembered, but nothing on the one mentioned in the letters from US Claims Service.

Does anyone have any experience or information on this company? The amount they claim to have found is over $300.00; enough to look for and claim. If they are in fact scammers referring to the claim I found with the trivial amount, and wait until they get my $24.00 to reveal that they “made a mistake about the amount”, would I have any recourse to get that fee back and report them? I haven’t sent them anything, and the funds that I found would cost as much to claim as they are worth.

Anyone have info or advice?

Yes. The companies are Prudential and MetLife. With that silly mystery cleared up, I suggest that perhaps you could contact them and inquire about any old accounts you might have.

The money has been transferred to the State of California. I have already found $9.24 from the policy I remember. I have never had a life insurance policy with the other company, as far as I know. I asked for information about US Claims Services.

No specific info about US Claims Services. They may be legitimate, but if you are concerned about paying $24 to them, consider contacting the State of California directly. Companies like US Claims Services hope that people don’t know that they can do this and save the $24.

Cheez,

As you may have guessed, the US Claims Services takes money to give you information you can get for free, at least according to this article on the Pennsylvania Treasury Department’s website. Other states have warnings about this company, too. Google “US Claims Services” “unclaimed property” to find more articles. My Googlefu was strong tonight!

Here’s how to contact California’s unclaimed property search and here’s a link for other states. A few years ago I ran my name through some of these links and found a few dollars from an employer I ran screaming from over a decade prior.
