I still think Dems can control the House. Lots of the remaining House races currently favor them. Could go either way, though.
Fetterman is giving his victory speech right now.
He really is of common clay. He’s reacting like an actor who was surprised to win the Academy Award instead of some practiced politician. It’s a really weird contrast. But man, did we need this.
I don’t see it. But from your lips to God’s ears as they say.
He speaks well when he isn’t scripted. He is much more fluid.
Nevada has reported 42% of the vote. Democrat Masto leads GOP Laxalt 54% to 43%.
Looks like it may come down to ny and ca, for the house.
Dem Governor Evers in Wisconsin wins re-election.
Mike lee in Utah. 47 - 47 now.
Nitpick: Cortez Masto. (Cortez is father’s last name, Masto is mother’s last name, as per Spanish convention. If you have to go with a single last name, better to say Cortez.)
As may be, midterms tend to be referendums on the President and his ability to get things done. It seems the voters are not as unhappy with Biden as the polls would have us believe. The red tide turned into a wave that kinda nipped at your toes a bit.
That’s not to say that it was a great outcome. The Trumpers are still likely to take the House, and that’s a pretty big monkeywrench in the gears, but based on history this has to be seen as a stunning defeat.
The BBC has Warnock with 49.2 % with 95% of the votes counted. Now let’s see if he can edge over 50%.
Elsewhere, I’ve seen it described as, “Not a red wave. More like a red ripple.”
So noted, and thanks.
spoiler he can’t. There likely just aren’t enough votes left.
And I take back what I said about Kansas. Kris Kobach is winning the Attorney General race. Kelley might hold on though, which I suppose is still better than MO. We made our asshole Attorney General into a Senator!
De nada.
AP says
Georgia
96.42% Est. Vote
|Warnock (D) *|1,906,702|49.4%|
|Walker (R)|1,869,391|48.5%|
|Oliver (LB)|79,844|2.1%|
Yep, it’s virtually over. We cannot get rid of this sorry fucker.
His Democratic opponent campaigned very little. I didn’t see more than a handful of TV ads for him. Guess they expected Kobach to go down again. Not so. Dammit.
The issue of abortion threw a big monkey wrench into the normal midterm processes.
Yes, I agree. It’s not that Biden isn’t unpopular, it’s that reproductive rights and democracy are popular.
North Carolina had a rather garbage outcome too… The state Senate is now a supermajority, and two state supreme court seats flipped to Republican control (with an 8-year term).
