That would be great. Why couldn’t it happen?
ABC has generally been the earliest to make projections. They have the House at 209-190 GOP.
My guess is Carter has no interest in getting back into the political arena, even in such a limited role.
i’m seeing 179 D - 201 R for the house at this point.
The NV Senate race is not close to over, and from the people I’m following (like Jon Ralston), there may be over 100,000 mail-in votes to be counted in Democratic counties, which would be more than enough to give Cortez-Masto a lead.
There’s also that whole “he’s 98 years old” thing.
Good to know. Fingers crossed.
they just called 3 for democrats in house races, these are dem. holds. 182 D- 201 R.
So…the votes of these folks shouldn’t count?
After seeing the results from Ohio and Florida, I don’t think we can continue to blame the hicks from the sticks for our electoral woes.
I’ve been on the road all morning, and am just now reading updates, and Holy shit Michigan! I never, ever, ever thought I’d ever ever ever see dems control both state houses (notably the senate)! I am just so stunned and happy today! If Dems can hold the Senate, and keep the House close, i will be having a very merry Christmas indeed.
Who is “they”? Projection totals are different for different sources and are all over the place right now.
ABC is 209-191
Fox is 199-174
they are cnn. it is all over the place right now.
In general, I’d say that the California primary produced a better slate of Republicans than it did Democrats. Across the board (mostly) they rejected Trump and they advocated for fairly normal, uninteresting things.
That they don’t seem to be winning would say that the people of California are still looking more closely at the letter than the person.
That’s a bit sad.
To be fair, most of the Democrats seemed fairly middling acceptable or, when they were idiots, the Republican was also an idiot. I don’t think this is the end of the world. But it is still regrettable.
Bakersfield still elected McCarthy, so they are still screwy.
Sounds like you’re an especially Happy Lendervedder today! As am I, as a fellow Michiganian.
I see your point. Part of me wants sane Republicans to be rewarded for being sane (low bar, true), and we need two (or more) sane parties.
But part of me understands why some sane voters would punish anyone for running as a Republican these days. It’s guilt by association, which is unfair, but it’s such a deeply tainted brand, I’d forgive a voter for considering this when they pull the lever.
Peeking out. Well, the earth isn’t scorched.
I’m one happy Michigander, and I suppose my wife is one happy Michigoose. Cra-cra Dixon and Karamo lose. Abortion rights affirmed by a clear margin. And, thanks to the referendum creating an impartial redistricting commission, Democrats control both chambers of the legislature.
Here in Michigan we’ve always looked down on Ohio, and now it’s with more reason that ever. Really, Buckeyes? Jimongus Douchebag Vance?
Still hoping Ronnie Johnson goes down in WI, but not too optimistic.
Sounds like Georgia should save time & money and implement ranked voting.
Here in Northern Nevada, hanging on to hope by a thread. Woke up to find Democrats trailing for Senate, Governor, and SoS (to an election denier, Jim Marchant).
I just moved here from Northern California which is such a common story in these parts that i wondered if it was enough to swing this purplish state more safely blue. Apparently, not quite yet.
(I spent yesterday working as an election volunteer in a Washoe County voting site. I think the turnout yesterday in person was heavily Republican. Many times, someone would drop off a ballot, and ask me suspiciously “when does this get counted…?” (A: tonight) So looks like there’s a lot of deep-seated suspicion about mail-in/drop-off voting. One person said: “Are those Dominion machines? I’m not voting if they are.” To me, that’s a perfect solution – anybody who’s stupid enough to fall for that crap shouldn’t get to vote, anyway.)
