US Midterm Election watch along thread

I specifically said so far

he did address that they are going as quickly as they can, following all of the rules, and anyone (or any individual one) who claims otherwise does not understand how things are properly done.

it was a rather well done clap back.

Very cute.

And yes, I do think those officials are getting much more practiced at how to push back effectively against the lies.

Is Texas really any closer to being blue or purple than it was 15 years ago?

Can we get Abbott to, um, ride with them?

As nice as that would be, all that means is we would end up with Dan Patrick as governor.

Kelly’s lead is up to just under 100k. Hobbs’ lead up to 16.7k.

Yes!!!

Zinke won but not by much, which is actually hopeful for Montana.

Katie Porter’s House race is still uncalled. California district 47-newly redrawn
As good as she has been in Q&A in congress she is still tied in a race . IMHO her opponent looks and sounds like Rush Limbaugh. Maybe that is his appeal.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders was elected governor of Arkansas! Why did I not know this until today? I live right next door and had forgotten she was running. No Trump endorsement? No election denying? Yeah, it’s Arkansas (about as boringly predictable as Tennessee) but I’m surprised it did not get more news coverage.

This is from 2020, but it came up on my Non Sequitur calendar. So true; enjoy!

Whoa! I wasn’t aware of that either. Surprised it was such a low-profile race. And what qualifies her for this job? Never mind.

She is now ahead by over 1200 votes. The data nerds at 538 say there are around 5000 votes left to be reported and she only needs 42% of them to win. That’s unlikely not to happen.

How many does she need to avoid an automatic recount? Is that what the 42% is?

Beyond her maiden name, which is undoubtedly part of it? She’s worked in Republican politics throughout her adult life, though almost entirely in running election campaigns. Then, of course, she worked in Trump’s administration as press secretary. She’s not held (nor run for) elected office before.

My emphasis.

Using the word loosely, i.e., in the trumpian sense.

And they rejected marijuana.

Arizona is saying 600k ballots remain to be counted. Assistant sec. of state on cnn.

Uff da.

Think of the 42% as getting 50.000001%. Anything less than 50.5% triggers a recount which is sure to happen because no one is winning by more than that. Recounts generally don’t change things by more than a couple dozen votes for an election of that size.
