US Midterm Election watch along thread

Shit.

Now Boobert is ahead by 400 votes.

Shit.

maricopa saying it will take to early next week to count 400k + votes.

Maybe some of the Republicans that moved to Florida and are making it more red moved away from Michigan, possibly enough to make a difference.

Any ideas how I could persuade some (MANY) Texans to move to Florida?

As a Texan who has visited Florida once and couldn’t wait to get home, I have no idea.

Wish I did. Then maybe they’ll stop moving to Colorado.

Interesting point! Not a major factor, surely, but could be part of it.

There is only one thing worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about.

I grew up in Washington State, and we weren’t even a blip on the radar of national politics. On the rare occasions we did get any kind of mention, they were careful to call it “Washington State” so it wouldn’t be confused with the Washington that mattered. Almost nobody from the state ever got anywhere in national politics. The presidential nominations were a foregone conclusion before we even had our caucuses. It was rare that either candidate came during the campaigns. The networks would call the winner of the election before our polls even closed.

It was quite an eye-opener when I moved to the northeast. Candidates actually seem to want me to vote for them. There’s a presidential library within 500 miles of me. All this attention could go to my head.

So, yeah, it can all get to be too much. But being ignored sucks, too.

If we can convince Abbott they’re illegal immigrants, he’ll bus them out of town for us.

Not sure if anyone is tracking this little phenomenon:

the house is at:

192d - 209r.

per cnn.

Yes. Back in 2018 and 2020, when the GOP was supporting progressives in Democratic primaries, I wondered why we didn’t do the same. Glad to see it.

I was going to mention that today. I posted about this months ago and was appalled that the party would play with fire like that. Because it worked (this time) they’re now geniuses, but I still do not support this tactic. It could have backfired badly. And it’s still deeply un-democratic at its heart.

Happened in Kansas. Dems were rooting for twice-loser Kris Kobach to win the GOP AG primary. He did. And then he won the general election, so we’re stuck with this asshole for at least another four years.

Agree. (But I appreciate snowthx posting the results of this tactic, this time).

I also posted an OP about it, and even though Pritzker won handily I agree with you – it’s un-democratic at best, and dangerous at worst.

What has been incredibly refreshing is that so far, defeated Republicans have been conceding and no one is whining about cheating. They have been watching the Jan6 traitors facing justice and don’t want to be associated with that.

nevada just did a press conference. clark county has around 55k ballots to go. they should be counted by saturday.

usps delivered 626 to be counted today.

the gentleman doing the press conference is not super clear.

I feel so sorry for those folks. When they took their job as an election official, they never contemplated having to stand up and defend their processes to a national audience on cue in the midst of uncertainty.

Awful things have been done to elections offices around the country, thanks to the Big Lie. With all the damage Trump did, this may be the worst of it: Fanning the flames of distrust in our electoral process, for no reason other than to selfishly benefit only him.

If Boebert ends up losing, I bet she whines about being cheated.
