Hassan is in!
I just hit ‘mute’ and avert my eyes. I’ve seen almost none of them. I look forward to Alex Skarlatos getting his ass kicked. And please please please please let Kotek win the governorship!!
Democratic Rep. Abigail Spanberger won reelection in a hotly contested VA seat, running against a Big Lie/Capitol Riot supporter. While Republicans are still likely to take the House tonight, the margin matters and every tossup that land Democratic is a good thing.
I’m seriously debating whether I should even look before tomorrow. 538 had Kotek at only 44% a few days ago but as of midday today they had her at ~63%. That idiot Johnson really screwed things up.
Here in the 4th congressional district Hoyle is all but a shoo-in but since I have yet to see a single Hoyle yard sign over the hundreds of Skarlatos signs that litter the county (Douglas) I won’t sleep well until the final results are in. And if Hoyle loses I won’t sleep well for at least 2 years.
I’m also really curious how the state measures did. I voted yes for all of them.
A small dollop of joy (wherever we can get it)
For Virginia’s House District 7, Abigail Spanberger (D.) defeats Yesli Vega (R.) 52-48.
Yay? How many votes to count and from where?
Oh rats, they are calling Vance.
Heads I win, tails you lose…
Neither my students nor my coworkers belive me when I say to them that I don’t watch TV or YouTube videos. But it’s quite true and so I have managed to avoid being exposed to a single TV or radio ad for any candidate this season. One of the many benefits of being an incorrigible luddite.
ABC calling Iowa Senate for Chuck Grassley, 89 years young.
From PBS.
139,805 votes to 129,421.
(there’ve been final results in this thread, btw, that haven’t substantiated like this)
Generally true for me, but I watched a movie and drove on 5 past all the farms with their many signs.
Yep, Vance up 54/46 with 86% reporting. Ryan made a good run of it, but Ohio (like Florida) needs to be officially taken off the “purple state” board.
But isn’t JD Vance a blithering idiot?
Not at all.
That was a gimme. Really, it was.
I still can’t believe that Shapiro’s coattails didn’t pull Fetterman much higher.
This was one of the two races I contributed money to, the other being the Senate race, Kelly vs. Masters. Besides overseeing the state’s elections, we have no lieutenant-governor.* If the governor kicks it, the SoS takes over.
*There’s a proposition on the ballot to change that, amending the state constitution to create the office.
Hochul holds as gov…
Nate Silver (on the 538 live blog) : “One big question is whether Walker might perform a little worse in a runoff without Kemp to help him.”
That’s a great point I hadn’t thought of - if he can get this one to a runoff, hopefully Warnock can make it 2-for-2 in runoffs.
SD:
Did Kristi Noem (D.) get mentioned already, beating Jamie Smith (R.)? (64%-33%)
From PBS, the tally being 82,503 to 42,613.
