US Open Golf 2026

I don’t think there is a thread about this.

Wyndham Clark is leading the US Open by 4 at the halfway point, sitting at 7 under. Unfortunately he’s one of the villains of golf at the moment.

In typical US Open fashion, scoring has been difficult with ten of the 156 starters in red figured after 36 holes. Weather conditions were highly variable over the first two days, so your tee time made a big difference.

Also typical of the US Open, a number of big names missed the cut. JJ Spaun, the defending champion was one.

Six of thirteen LIV golfers made the cut, but arguably the biggest names missed out, Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm both had very bad Fridays.

For a while it looked like more AMATEURS would make the cut than LIV golfers but in the end “only” five of twenty of them did. In those five is a 17-year old.

There’s a lot of sport to follow this weekend.

Ignoring the tragedy that is the Shinnecock Hills course, is anyone as infuriated at the atrocious NBC coverage?

3-4 minutes of commercials / promos instead of covering the leaders putting for a birdie or bogey? This picture-in-picture only makes it worse as we can get a glimpse of what we are missing while watching John Krasinski smirk his way through a Cadillac commercial.

…and then a three minute interview with Wyndham Clark’s local golf pro who moonlights as his hitting coach while we miss the actual Wyndham Clark duel Scottie Scheffler on the green at 3?

C’mon NBC. Do much better.

(If this belongs in the Pit, I apologize.)
