No, but this was the second time in a week where something amazing and awesome and newsworthy happened in the evening, and I stayed up until after 2 a.m., to keep listening to news coverage and scroll Instagram and Threads stories. (The other was the Brewers winning the World Series last week.)
Abbott lost, yes, and my prediction was wrong also there. I did predict Talarico would win.
The Dems aint kicking out their leadership, and Booker would be terrible.
Tariffs and cracking down on migrant farm workers hurt them. Sure those farmers are against “Illegals” if asked, but in reality they want them working for them.
That is a smart thing for him to say- as the Dems really can not “hold them accountable” except to hold hearings. Impeachments would fail, almost always. And there would be scads of Pardons anyway. We will have to wait until there is a Dem President.
Yeah, the voters 'won’t be fooled again!" until their memory dims. It usually takes about 4 years or so.
Yeah, unless the Dems think they have the votes in the Senate, just do not bother.
How? The President has unlimited Pardons, and the Senate will not vote to convict for Impeachment. Yes, we won this election- great. Let us fix things. If we get a Dem President, then more things can be done.
Still two Senate races uncalled- AK and MS. Winning both would be very nice indeed. Even winning one would mean 55 Senate votes. Both elections are very very close, with the Dems having a razor thin lead.
Of the “Key races” so far the Dems only lost Kansas, which was predicable- running an Indy almost never works.
On the local CA side, the big Proposition= #40, the Wealth tax went down in well deserved flames, but a special increase in incomes taxes for the very wealthy was passed.
The racist and MAGA back Prop 39, requiring ID to vote, also went down in flames. Good.
They won Kansas. I believe you mean Nebraska.
You can tell them apart because Dorothy came from the first and the Great and Terrible Oz from the second.
Huh?
Kansas elected a Democratic Senator and is on the verge of electing a Democratic governor.
Oh, you’re probably thinking about Nebraska, which did have an independent on the ballot, and no Democrat.
Confusing Kansas and Nebraska is an unforgivable sin. Neither of us likes the other very much.

What Next is a different thread please and thank you
There’s a thread in Politics & Elections on what next, but why not investigate how a bunch of kids calling themselves DOGE got access to your Social Security records? One of dozens of examples, I never mentioned impeachment of the President.
Yep, sorry.
Moderating:
Please note, the bolding is mine. Next steps are another thread. Let’s please keep this one to candidates and ballot measures that have passed or are still in play.
Off-topic post which welcomes it's own thread
I’m curious what others think of this whole topic purely from a cynical realpolitick viewpoint. Unfortunately, it seems pretty clear that that’s what the majority of the country wants. Is it better to just take the loss, deprive the right of a wedge issue, and move forward trusting that attitudes will eventually change? (Granted, all of that is very easy for me to say as a cishet white guy.)
Something like that passed in Washington, despite a pretty solid blue showing last night. I do think the issue hits a nerve with a lot of people. I don’t get it. But then again, there are many things I don’t get about our electorate and their behavior.
Drawing straws.
the election shall be decided between the candidates having an equal number of votes by each candidate individually drawing one (1) of the two (2) sealed containers from an opaque bag, under the direction of the Governor and Secretary of State. The containers shall consist of a straw of conspicuous length, and the candidate drawing the container with the longer of the two (2) straws shall be declared the winner.
Man, it would be so sweet if the valuations tanked on Musk’s made-up fortune, and the $330+million he spent on this election pushed him into bankruptcy.
Meanwhile, Ohio’s voter ID amendment also failed by a couple of points, and all of the local issues went the way I voted, too (levees for a couple of county departments, changes in the balance of power between the county executive and council, and some minor administrative things in my suburb).
Virginia enshrined marriage equality, reproductive freedom, and suffrage after felony conviction, in our Constitution.
CA also overturned a Voter ID law
MA voted to keep it’s more permissive marijuana laws in place. Humorously enough, my daughter and all her friends learned all about the 9 ballot initiatives and voted for the first time even though they are in their early 20s.
Mississippi votes are trickling in, and Democrat Scott Colom has increased his lead from 65 to 1,138 over incumbent Cindy Hyde-Smith. 95.8% votes have been tabulated, so still a ways to go. But looking more promising.
While not very interesting, New Mexico decided to get rid of the governor’s pocket veto and finally pay the legislature an annual salary instead of just the per diem they pass themselves every year.
Are you sure:
That is a promising bump!
327 people in the condo building voted in person.
