And credit where it is due: the centrist ex-Republican running for Florida governor is going to lose by just about the same margin, so looks like Florida got the “vote blue no matter who” message.
The final tally will be about 4 million votes for each candidate. 4.1 million vs 3.9
In 2022 (the last FL midterm senate race) the GOP got about 4.5 million votes to 3.2 million votes D.
So even though democrats lost, the gap went from 1.3 million votes in 2022; to 200k votes in 2026. Which is a huge positive bellwether for the nation.
Damn. Angie Nixon was on Rachel Maddow’s show a while back–very impressive. Damn. We haven’t seen the last of her.
Moody was appointed when Marco left to wreak havoc on the world stage.
Fourthed.
Meeting over, I just got back home.
Moore Capito (R) retains WV.
At the Bexar County Dem gathering, so not following except on Twitter… and here. Just enjoying myself, introducing my party to the very popular ex-mayor, Ron Nirenberg.
1% in. NYT needle still favors Troy.
Hamilton has a big lead in KS thus far.
Still, it looks like Nixon did 3+ points better than the polling averages said she would. That augurs well for what will happen in other normally GOP states where the candidate is a better ideological match.
Um, I’m not so sure about your police work there, Lou.
It’s fuzzy math!
(D), for those wondering.
Gina Hinojosa (D - running for TX governor) is doing almost as well as Talarico. I’m starting to think there’s a good chance we might have seen the last of Greg Abbott.
Hey! He’s giving you 105% here!
Senate at 43 d - 32 r
House at 45 d - 21 r
They were just talking about this race on the TPM live feed I’m watching. Roger Marshall (incumbent R) put out an ad over the weekend against the wishes of his own campaign saying “Hey, I didn’t have those women thrown in jail for not paying their bills, the debt collectors had them thrown in jail!”
I’m really enjoying watching that guy just crash and burn. Go Hamilton!
Almost good enough to satisfy a high school football coach.
Didn’t realize that new Senator Chris Pappas of NH was gay, or that he will somehow be the first openly gay man in the Senate.
Jackson is now leading in ME, albeit with only 3% of the vote in.
In the 11th Congressional district here in NC (which is Asheville and environs), the R incumbent, Chuck Edwards, withdrew his name from consideration due to allegations of sexual harassment of his staff. This is the seat formerly held by Madison Cawthorn, who basically earned the enmity of the state Republican machine and lost his primary to the hand-picked Edwards.
It looks like the D contender in that district, Jamie Ager, is set to win that seat over the R replacement, Jennifer Balkcom. Hasn’t been called yet, but I expect it to be soon.
Maybe this is a note to local Rs that NC really doesn’t like sex pests.
