USA nuke missile #2 guy "conduct unbecoming an officer"--so it's a real thing, huh?

Vice-Admiral Timothy Giardina, “Deputy Head” [?–sic from cite] of the US Strategic Command, was fired last year, and now two reasons, at least, were revealed: he was a 15-hour a week gambler, and he passed phony chips. According to cite, the gambling alone didn’t do him in, but he lied to the wrong people–in addition to the casino–so that and the chips were the goods.

Any other info, history, on “conduct unbecoming an officer?” I sort of had that mixed up in my head with “officer and gentlemen,” but for real.

(Actually “officer and gentlemen” is probably for real too in one of the services [?] although I don’t know what happens about it.)

Both phrases in one authoritative cite!

The charge under 10 U.S.C. § 933 is “Conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman” and is available to all gentlemen (and ladies) in all the armed services except enlisted personnel.
