USA vs Jamaica (WC qualifying)

Well, the US just lost for the first time ever to Jamaica and played one of the worst games I’ve ever seen out of them. This loss will make qualifying for the 2014 World Cup a bit tougher, although it really shouldn’t matter.

Clint Dempsey scored 38 seconds into the match, and then the US was completely dominated for 90 minutes. Klinnsman should feel some heat after that lineup and performance.

Not having Donovan and Bradley really hurt the midfield. Agree that they were outplayed by Jamaica. Have to see if they do better at home on Tuesday.

Yikes. Not making the World Cup would pretty much kill the momentum soccer has been building here.

Why aren’t these away qualifiers ever on TV? Not that this would have been a good game to have watched.

I think that the home team is responsible for negotiating deals for broadcast. Jamaica picked some weird pay per view streaming service to show in the US. Only a little effort would have easily led you to pirate streaming sites. That is where I was watching.

Really? I know in Europe the national FA’s make a deal with the broadcaster for all qualifying games. So the Dutch FA decides who gets to broadcast all games, home and away.

Al Jazeera’s new station had the US broadcasting rights. The Dish Network and Comcast (in some areas) both carry the channel.

Neither should be at important to this team against CONCACAF opponents. That was dreadful. This one’s on Klinsmann.

Called beIN I believe.

Huge 1-0 win tonight. Jamaica’s keeper was unbelievable in the first half and then lets in a bunny in the second. I wouldn’t want to contemplate what things would have been necessary if the US lost or tied.

CONCACAF isn’t as easy to qualify through as it a few WC cycles ago. Mexico is 0-0 with Costa Rica in the second half at Azteca.

We should have a healthy Bradley, Donovan, and a full-strength Dempsey for the next round of games.

Saw the second half of last night, mostly on some degree of fast-forward. US looked pretty strong until they scored, then it appeared that they really tried to let Jamaica back in it – something like 5 corners for Jamaica after the goal, to none for the US. Not really what you want to see when you’re up by only one goal.
