Usenet Kooks are FUN!

Yep, you heard me!
I’m looking for some good material to do an MST3K treatment on…this stuff is gold!

Listen to some of these headlines:

This is so much funn!

But, in this case, I think part of it is justified. For pure, unadulterated kookness you cannot beat the idiots of old. McElwaine, Gary Stollman, and my personal favorite Ludwig Plutonium. Ah, the loons of today are so tall because they’re standing on the shoulders of giants.

Check the net.legends FAQ and crank.net’s archive for usenet kooks.

Thank you, so very much!

My favorites are the nutty religious ones…
There was one MSTing I still have, it’s not on Web Site #9 anymore, and it was called HelmoSexuals. It was three original articles by some moron named, Norman Boyd, who claimed to be a reformed homosexual and about all the hell and torment gays would meet in Hell or some nonsense like that. The guy who MSTied it, was a mild mannered gay man himself and totally took the PISS out of poor Normal Boy (I still wanna know what the original guy was smoking…)

Good heavens, Ankh_Too, your mention of Ludwig Plutonium sure brings back some memories. He worked at Dartmouth College* when I was a student there in the early '90s and I saw him speak once. The subject was his Plutonium Atom theory and it also had something to do with Star Trek (The Search For Spock, in particular, IIRC.) He was an odd fellow but completely earnest in what he believed. Working at the College gave him access to the 'Net. I remember he wore white, long-sleeved, collared shirts with equations (about Plutonium, etc.) handwritten all over them with a Sharpie.

Usenet was made for Ludwig Plutonium. I haven’t thought of him in a long time and I never bothered to look for him online.

*not in the Physics department.
