I came up with the alias “Ashley Tarquin” when I first started getting active on the internet, and later shortened it to “Ashtar” as my default username.
But I’ve been using the nickname so long that except for my family, and a couple childhood friends, everybody just calls me “Ashley” or “Ash”. I kinda like it.
I have, several times, referred to myself by my user name at work. Luckily, my co-workers weren’t payimg close attention.
Although I’ve never come close to saying “Hi, I’m KneadToKnow,” I have carried one of my bad SDMB habits over to real life: upon hearing someone say “I need to know,” it is no longer within my power to resist saying, “Me, too.”
I never call myself anything that I want to be called in real life. More or less on purpose, too. Not a big nickname person.
At least it isn’t as bad as the old days when I went by the handle “Molesto the Clown.” Oh, the shame.
