Using multiple SMTP with Netscape

I’m trying to add a second outgoing mail server for Netscape 7.0 mail client to use. I use several isps, but want to use only one email account. Right now in Outlook Express, I have to to compose a message in the account that is hard coded to the connection I’m using at the time. I noticed in Netscape that I could use multiple outgoing mail servers and assumed that meant if the default server wasn’t available, the next server would be used. There’s no help information, other than a warning that this should only be used by Advanced Users and could cause problems. In any event, I can’t get it to work. Two questions, (1) am I correct in assuming Netscape mail client will step thru the list of outgoing SMTPs till it finds one that’s connected? , (2) if yes, what do I have to do to make it work?

Considering that NS7 is based on Mozilla, I bet you’re experiencing some of the same problems I had when I was trying to do it in Mozilla 1.0.

It’s a real PITA to get it to work right. I ended up using one SMTP server, and Mail seems to handle writing the correct From: headers just fine.

It might be easier in Mozilla 1.2, but I haven’t gotten around to downloading it yet.
