Graduation was last night, my room is secured, paperwork done, check-out sheet turned in…I’M ON VACATION!!! Suck it, 9 to 5ers. For the next 60 days I am off duty. All my seniors passed, only a couple of them are going to vote for Trump in November and that’s because their parents see them more often than I do. Or did. They are society’s problem now. I’m kickin’ back, sipping margaritas and ignoring the world until August 8.

Next week is finals week. It’s really an easy time for me but my students are walking around like crazed zombies. Can’t wait for vacation.

None of my seniors failed, but several of my juniors did 
(it’s been a rough transition to the new AP Physics paradigm).
For the last few days I’ve engaged in some “deep couch sitting,” but that’s about to change. I’ve neglected the yard and with all the rains we’ve had, there’s stuff growing everywhere. The inside of the house needs a good, thorough cleaning, and I’ll have to confront the garage at some point.
I found out a couple of weeks ago that the certification requirements have changed for the Engineering class I’ve been teaching for the last three years, so I’ll have to take a test next month to add a Math certification so I can continue to teach that class. Not worried, but I do need to brush up on certain areas of math I haven’t used in the past 20 years (complex numbers!).
But, boy is it nice not having a set schedule every day for the next couple of months. I love not having to wake up to an alarm clock.

This is sorta my plan as well. I’ve got tons of yard work to get to, the house needs a total cleaning, and I need to convince my top debater that she really doesn’t want to move 60 miles away with her mother. 
On the up side, all the local micros are cranking out their summer brews, and there are actually acts I want to see at the local ampitheaters.
Beats working.
