Of all posters, I can’t think of anyone who was more benign or conscientious of the rules. And yet, suddenly, tonight, she’s banned?
Whiskey Tango Helicopter Foxtrot?
If nothing else, can someone point me to her bannable offense?

What the fuck? I’m confused too. I liked her.
Here’s hoping she gets more responsible in life.
My bet would be that it had something to do with pitting a member of her congregation and e-mailing her pastor a link to the thread.
Ah, well.
“WTHF”?
Wha?
“What the Holy Fuck”
Here.
She’s been suspended for at least a month.
Oh. Well that’s just…
Okay, thanks.
I tried. I’ll try again.
vanilla: if you love Christ, please turn the other cheek.
To pastorjc:
You will be well-served to stick around. Your rhetorical skills could use a little polish.
Wow I’ve almost always been behind any banning/suspension the mods have handed out but this is nuts (I’m a real obey the rules or take the punishment type of guy on here for some reason).
I’ve seen dopers call out other dopers over real life stuff and all I’ve ever seen is a warning. I think a month long suspension with a threatened banning is way too far.
Dayum.
Well, this might be a first. I saw the original thread, thought its closing was justified; but I don’t know I’ve even seen a closed thread re-opened by an admin just to initiate a banning.
The whole thing was ugly; dear vanilla should have refrained from either discussing these matters on the boards, or linking to outsiders, one or the other. I felt sorry for pastorjc, and I’m so glad I missed the thread in real-time and didn’t have the temptation to participate in it.
Vanilla, come back in a month, dear, but don’t trash your brethren here! And if you must do so, do so anonymously. That thread was a big mistake, not that we all haven’t made big mistakes.
Actually, it’s a good thing. We can really raise the tone of this board, if only we can get rid of rabble-rousers and trolls like vanilla.
For the first time in my life, I’m actually praying.
It’s supposed to be “Hotel.”
I have to agree with TubaDiva. It was a valid rant, but to link to it in an e-mail and have an unsespecting person you have a problem with come here to get hammered, I just don’t see the point. Why not send the link to the people giving her a ride? We could have piled on them as well…
I’d also like to ask people that lump “Christians” together in a group as fundies to recognize that Baptists and Catholics are entirely different animals. Specify the sect you like to bash before lumping us all together.
This is just the latest example of the SDMB having too many chiefs and not enough indians. There’s no conistency between different mods’ behavior, and bannings like this are way too subjective.
I think it’s important to point out that the mod’s reason for banning Vanilla is entirely incorrect and build around misreading the situation. Vanilla did not send the thread to the “Pastor JC” that replied in order to “lure” him to the thread for an “ass-kicking”, as the mod posited. Rather, Vanilla sent the thread to a different member of the congregation, who took it upon themselves to send it to the pastor who elected to come to the thread and respond.
I’d just like to clarify that I do agree that a stern warning or maybe even a week suspension would have been warranted. But a month with a potential banning? Seems a little much for the offense especially to a poster that’s (as far as I know) probably never been warned for anything before.
Again, from the original thread -
“I am “Vanilla’s”/Rose’s pastor. I got the link to this bulletin board from an email she sent to the elder in question and joined the board so I could respond…”
