Variety in Charleston Chews?

This is somewhat suited for CS, as it involves candy, but I do want a factual answer (as I know there must be one).

I opened a new box of Charleston Chews tonight and I noticed that it said Vanilla down at the bottom. I was wondering, do they make other flavors? I know there is nougat in it, but I’m not too savvy on the chew itself, as in what is what inside and all, but do they make other flavors of nougat inside the CC, or am I imagining that this could exist?

Welcome. I’ve moved this one to MPSIMS as I don’t think it’s quite General Question material.

Judgement call on my part.

Currently, Charleston Chew bars are offered in, strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla flavors.

Vanilla and chocolate are both tasty (and in my experience, pretty easy to find). Strawberry tastes like crap, and thankfully, it doesn’t seem to be as common.

Wikipedia has some history, plus a bit more on flavors:

Just wanted to say thanks for the answers. Also, thanks to samclem for pushing this thread into it’s proper place. I knew I had to do something wrong as a new-kid!

Thanks!

Artificial strawberry flavor always tastes like crap to me, regardless of what it’s in.

I have theoretically valuable brain cells that remember the jingle for “Charleston Chews” that began -
“3-2-1
Charleston Chew
Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry
just for you”
and went on from there. Could have been filled with theoretical physics or something useful - but instead, I know that you can freeze and crack a candybar if you so choose. And I can sing about it.
Advertising to sugar starved children is just too easy.

Yes! I came in to mention that CCs were my brother’s favorite candy bar and he often did the freeze and shatter thing.

Shoot, I still know the long version of the Buster Brown jingle (“Does your shoe have a boy inside…”), and there’s no useful information whatsoever contained therein.

Too true. Artifical strawberry flavour is a crime against nature.
