Vasectomy and Testicular Torsion

I read an article today about symptoms men shouldn’t ignore, and one of the points involved testicular torsion.

I’ve had a vasectomy. Do the changes to my anatomy increase/decrease my risk of torsion, or are the two things completely unrelated?

Thanks!

A vasectomy cuts the Vas Deferens, but the Fascia (fibrous tissue) that surrounds the vas is left intact. Since this can still entangle the blood vessels, torsion is still a possibility (but no more or less likely). One end of the vas is generally left outside the fascia (Fascial Interposition) to prevent recanalisation (which would reverse the vasectomy).

I just had to post to say that reading “testicular torsion” made me involutarily cover my genitals. ouch
p.s. vasectomy recipient, no torsion (yet)
