My Alma Mater. Normally I don’t watch basketball but for some reason I’ve become a huge fan in the last couple of weeks. 
It’s been a fun ride so far.
Shaka Smart can pretty much name his own price now…and to think he was an assistant at my school when vcu grabbed him.
I think its hilarious that one of the Morris twins that play for Kansas said to the VCU players during the captain’s lineup right before the game “You’ve had a nice little run, but its time to go home now” (paraphrasing) according to ESPN.
Comeuppance is sweet.
Whoa, I missed that one! I hope they keep on with quotes like that this week. I think it was Dick Vitale who said on selection Sunday, “picking UAB and VCU over Va Tech and Colorado is like picking Roseanne Barr over Scarlett Johnsson in a beauty contest”. It’s comments like that which fueled them for 5 games and counting.
As a VCU alum and life-long Richmonder, I can safely say I’ve never seen the city buzzing like it has been the last two days. We’re not a sports city by a longshot, but EVERYONE is excited about this.
Taking nothing away from Butler, but I don’t know how VCU continues to be such an odds underdog. If you look at who we’ve beat over the last 5 games, the only one that was even close was the Florida State game. Can’t wait for the weekend!
