Venture Bros 10/24 - The Silent Partners

An OK episode centered on Billy. Or I should say, “Dr. Billy” now.

Did he seal the deal, or did the fire extinguisher chase them off?

Next episode is the one hour season finale on 11/21.

Fave moments:

  • Robo-Bo…it not only walks like it has to take a dump, but can summon the Conjecture-cycle a la the General Lee’s “Dixie” car horn.
  • “When the vampires try to bite my neck, they’re going to get nothing but a mouthful of foamy cervical collar.”
  • “But, on the upside, we grow our own pot, and we legalize the gay marriage.” Shoreleave: “I am going to retire here!”
  • “I Call her…‘Manny’s song’…me first love, she left me for a bloke names Craig, who just slept with her and tossed her away. I haven’t seen her since then; I heard she was with some go-nowhere mechanic named Jay.”
  • “Avast, we set sail!” “Well, what are we waiting for?” “We have to actually set sail, like you guys have to help me tie down those sails.”
  • Y’know what…White is a star-f*cker.
  • “Sphinx!”
  • “No, no, that’s not my gun…that’s an indicator of how excited I am to do this to you.”
  • The duelling “cowboy speeches”…well done.

It had some good moments, but it didn’t gel into a great episode for me. This might be my least favorite episode of the season. OTOH, I’m excited to hear about the 1-hour finale, as I hadn’t heard about that.

Thinking about it, I think I didn’t love it because it lacked all my favorite characters. None of the Ventures, No Monarch or Dr. Mrs. the Monarch, no #21. Shore-Leave is a one-joke character, though that’s one joke better than the Hunter S. Thompson ripoff.

“Is he well enough yet that I can kill him?” Gotta love Brock.
