Tomorrow’s episode will have an alternate ending that will be available after the EST broadcast at aol.com. We’ll be able to vote on which ending we prefer. I don’t know what that will actually mean.
Anyway, an article about it is here. But there appear to be some spoilers in that article at the bottom, so be careful.
I’ve never heard of such a stunt. Is this interesting or lame?
I looked at the first part of the article linked in the OP, without reading the second part, 'cause I don’t want to be spoiled.
I’m guessing that the end of 2.9 is pretty big. And so, to avoid what happens from leaking out, they wrote and filmed two different endings, one real, and one fake. That’s something that TV shows have been doing for awhile, I think. Though often for season finales and such. In the past, of course, we never got to see the endings that weren’t used, though we may have gotten a recap of them. Well, or I dunno, maybe some shows have included them on DVDs, but I haven’t heard about it. So including a way to see the alternate ending is interesting, as far as I concerned.
What’s odd, though, is the voting. What happens if the alternate ending wins? My guess: nothing. It gets announced as the winning one, sure, but the ending that aired on tv is still what’s canon. 2.10 is already filmed, I’m sure, since it’s airing next week, and I know they’ve already written and are probably working on the episodes past that (not sure when exactly they go on a little xmas break, but still). So the voting seems pretty pointless, just a way to further entice people to watch the clip and get some attention, and that’s kinda lame.
I’m assuming you’re right, and I guess I wouldn’t want, really, to be able to influence the writers. They’ve done a good job with this show, and I am a moron.
