Veronica Mars goes to college - tonight on CW

I didn’t get to watch the episode–as soon as Kristen Bell showed up on the screen, my TV set melted because she was so hot.

I kid. I kid because I love…

Anyway, kind of a weird episode. A lot of it felt very introductory to me. Makes sense, with the new characters coming in, but it still came across as not quite in the groove yet.

I’m fine with the new opening. Didn’t have a problem with the old opening, but don’t really care so much either way. It was good to see Francis Capra in there, even if he didn’t make last night’s episode.

Kind of hard to believe Keith would be stupid enough to have anything to do with Cormac Fitzpatrick. Liam’s bad enough; do you really want to involve yourself with the one who’s been in prison for years?

Ummm, didn’t Roni catch the razor rapist last year? Is this storyline an implication that she fingered the wrong guy?

For that matter, would you like to be the guy she’s fingering? (Sorry, couldn’t resist.)

Next week, same time, same channel…

No, she didn’t. All she proved was that it wasn’t…um Cleaned Up His Act dude. Troy?

Also, shout out to BSG fans! I just got the first season from my library and had watched all of the first show before VM. Great timing!

AAGH!!

I can’t believe that I spaced on setting up the VCR last night. :frowning:

Is the premiere still up on the web anywhere?? Please help me get back to Neptune!!

Give this a try:

There should be a ‘See the Video’ link on that page.

I finally started watching VM through Netflix a few weeks ago. I’m about 1/2 way through season 2 right now. I chose NOT to watch the season 3 opener on Tuesday night because it might spoil some season 2 surprises that I have yet to watch.

PS I love this show and Kristen Bell is absolutely gorgeous.

Thanks - I actually found that soon after I posted. D’oh! :smack: Funny how that always happens.

I tried to google it before asking the dope - really really I did!!

That was definitely my biggest issue with this episode. Keith is not an idiot, and there’s no way that he wouldn’t know that a deal with Kendall Casablancas and Cormac Fitzpatrick was almost guaranteed to go very, *very * badly for him. I can believe that he’d *do * it (for a boatload of money), but I *can’t * believe that he’d let his guard down for a single second.

The episode was indeed a bit blah and expository for my taste, but, first episode on the new network and all, so I’m okay with it, and optimistic. I did love that we got lots of Wallace and Mac, and I kind of love that Dick is such a mess.

The ratings don’t suck, so that’s a plus. VM held on the majority of the Gilmore Girls (I originally wrote “Golden Girls”) lead-in and even built on it with young men!

Agreed, on Keith. He should have known Cormac was up to something. The Fitzpatricks are a bunch of mick criminals–they can’t be trusted, but they won’t turn on each other, either.

I hope we get lots of Mac every week, now that she’s a regular. Although regulars do not show up all the time on this show, as we all know.

This seems like exactly the kind of show that would have a sympathetic gay character in it somewhere. I’m disappointed that it doesn’t. Woulda been really cool if Wallace’s roommate had turned out to be gay instead of cliche-horndog-for-blonde-chicks. I still like the show; just sayin.

There’ve been a number of gay and lesbian characters throughout the series so it’s not unlikely that we’ll see some on campus. As for Piz, he’s a college freshman from the first episode so he has plenty of time to make certain self-discoveries.

On a completely unrelated note, did it take anyone else as long as I did to twig that Hearst College was named for WR Hearst?

Decent first start.

It’s great that Mac is a regular – she’s been my favorite secondary character for awhile. I’m not sure I care for Wallace’s dorky roomate from Beaverton. Maybe he’ll get murdered and that will be one of the season’s mystery arcs.

My only gripe is that Cormac didn’t try very hard to kill Keith. Was he really confident enough in that single bullet wound to allow Keith such an easy getaway? He should’ve been out there hunting for Keith instead of letting him take cover 20 feet from the front door. Surely the writers could’ve thought of a better way for Keith to escape, aside from Cormac letting him go!

Or maybe I missed something.

I didn’t quite get that Kendall pays Keith a lot of money to drive Cormac to a cabin thing. In Kendall/Keith’s minds what was going on?

I *think * she paid him to get her out of town and hidden, to get Cormac to her, and to get them both falsified passports etc., so that they could take off before Liam realized that Cormac was out of jail.

Of course, then the question becomes “and Keith did this why?” I think the answer must be the boatload of money combined with the thought that he was preventing Liam from killing them both. I don’t think that Keith is aware of Kendall’s involvement in Aaron’s acquittal, and she was cleared of the bus crash, so I can see why he’d reason that no one deserves to die for being a sleazy ho, which as far as he knows, is all she’s guilty of. Cormac is a bit of a harder sell, but he’d theoretically done his time, and again, Keith is focused on the fact that Liam is a scary sumbitch. Why he keeps tangling with this scary sumbitch who already has a hate on for him and his daughter is a little less clear to me.

Of course, this is all wild conjecture and I may well be completely wrong.

And by the way, am I the only one who was kind of sad to see Kendall go? She was a *fun * sleazy ho, and I liked her.

Note that we didn’t see her dead body…

And certainly having the one person who knew where she was think she was dead would have to aid the getaway, no?

My impression was that Keith was actually shot – not fatally, but wounded – though that was just an impression. If so, Cormac had to use X number of fake bullets on Kendall, then switch to real ones, to shoot Keith – which makes me think Kendall’s dead.

Of course, I also noted that we didn’t see a body, so I’m not yet placing any bets.

Well, or he just didn’t shoot directly at her. After all, Keith couldn’t see Kendall, just Cormac.

I imagine we will get more information on the deal between Keith and Kendall in upcoming episodes, because right now we don’t even know what was in her briefcase at the end of last season.

I thought it was established through dialog that Kendall’s briefcase contained merry bushels of cash.

And ya know, on second thought, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to fake Kendall’s death, at least not this way. Assume it was a fake. So now Kendall’s in hiding but Cormac (and, seriously, should I remember him? Because I don’t) would be wanted for her fake murder.
