I’m hoping that a fellow doper might be able to help me out with a very specific and unusual problem. I can’t send large emails. I’m not talking attachments or anything, just simple text. I haven’t been able to determine the exact cutoff and if it’s based on number of words, characters or lines.
The cutoff of size appears to be somewhere around 1,000 characters, or 20-30 lines of text. I get the standard error message that says I can’t send the email. This occurs to anyone I send to, including myself. I can take the same message and break it up to two parts and they each send fine.
I’m using Windows XP OS and Outlook Express for email. I have a software firewall (Norton) that I tried disabling already. I use Norton Anti-virus and tried disabling that also. I don’t use any of the Windows firewalls and security that I’m aware of. I keep up to date with Windows updates. I use Verizon DSL and have a Westel modem and a Cable Router also.
Verizon tech support has not been able to fix the issue.
The problem only seems to happen when I send email from home. It happens whether I’m using Outlook Express or if I’m using the Verizon Web Based email system.
My email worked fine for months and then suddenly started having this problem.
Anybody have any clue what this could be?
