Veterans' death claims

Granted this is not a pleasant subject, but I’d like to find out, on behalf of a customer whose husband died last October; the claim for his benefits is “still being processed,” the VA tells her. What has been your experience about the time it takes for a death claim to be fully “processed”?

She could try sending an inquiry to this site asking for specific reasons why the claim is delayed. When you call they can brush you off; if you email, they can research it. If this doesn’t work, she could try asking them through email who she should contact before she has to resort to contacting her congressman to get some answers. In working for the government, we did not like it when people threatened to contact their congressman or representatative.
