VH1's Bands Reunited...What about '60's bands?

Great Show!
but please don’t ignore the '60’s!!!

there are still plenty of major contributers with all members surviving.
my list…

  1. Buffalo Springfield
  2. The Seeds
  3. Vanilla Fudge
  4. Moody Blues
  5. Pretty Things
  6. The Smoke
  7. Beau Brummels
  8. Them
  9. The Leaves
  10. The Animals
  11. The Music Machine

anymore nominations???

MTV was an 80’s thing so you can see why they stuck with 80’s bands. I would imagine that the 60’s guys are starting to get pretty old too. I personally would love to see it.

BTW, until very recently, the Moody Blues still toured. They may still. The wife of a former boss of mine was a huge fan and ran one of the fan sites.

Re garding the Moody Blues…
Original member, Mike Pinder Left the band not long after “Go Now” and later
hooked up with Paul Mcartney and Wings.
He would have to be part of a Reunited show! ORIGNAL MEMBERS!

Zakary Thaks

Sky Saxon and one or two of the other Seeds still tour as the Seeds.

As I said in the other thread, I’d love to see a Sonics reunion. The Sonics were one of the greatest and most influential bands of all time.

A profile on The Monks would be cool too. They got back together a few years ago for the Cavestomp festaval after not having played together in over thirty years, and they burned through their songs like they just came out last week.

How about Peter Green doing something with Mick Fleetwood and John McVie?

< Minor Hijack >It would be nice if VH1 or someone would to a show about Roky Erickson. He has some major problems, of course, but the guy’s one of the best songwriters of all time and if anybody deserves to have a VH1 special, its him. I read that he’s started writing a little bit again, so who knows, maybe he’ll actually put out some new stuff someday.

Um, that was Denny Laine.

Fishbicycle…My bad,yes that was Laine,another original member…thanks
Nitro…have to disagree…Sky’s back-up band is,The Hour. The other original
members,Darryl Hooper,Jan Savage and Rick Dandridge have not been
on stage in Years.I have a video of their last reunion, circa 1991?

I need to amend the list…

13. Iron Butterfly...The Late Eric Braun,lead Guitarist from "In-a-godda-da-vida"
was not the original Lead Guitaurist from the "Heavy" album.
                              So the butterfly are nominated!

I think the fans of most 60’s bands are regarded as too old to be of interest to VH1 and their advertisers. Still, I like the idea, and I can think of a number of bands I’d like to see reunited, if only briefly.

If I could choose one band to reunite for a night, it would be the original lineup of King Crimson. It would be fun to see Greg Lake, Mike Giles, and Ian McDonald play “Schizoid Man” with Robert Fripp again.

But again, the folks who’d like to see that happen are NOT the folks VH1 regards as their target audience, so I wouldn’t bet on that ever happening.

OK…I may be wrong, but I could I could swear that Sky and I think Jan Savage toured as the Seeds last year. I’ll search the
WFMU archives when I get home from work and see if I can find the interview I listened too.

err…listened TO.

:smack:

The Zombies. I looked them up on Allmusicguide and apparently they’re all still alive, and have never reunited after their breakup around 1970.

But, since the show seems more interested in one-hit-wonder bands (and their near-ilk), perhaps The Knickerbockers (known for their Beatles dead-ringer “Lies” and two other minor hits) would be more apropos.

They’re coming to Tallahassee in the near future. My wife and I passed a club that had upcoming bands listed on the marquee, and there were The Zombies. I said, “Oh, cool! In addition to hearing a lot of Zombies material, we’d probably get to hear Rod do Hold Your Head Up too!” I have no other details on this appearance, how many of the original guys or anything, sorry. But I wanted to let you know that they went ahead and reformed without telling anybody at AMG.

That’s good news! I hope they’ll swing my way.

(For those who are interested, the key names to look for are Rod Argent and Colin Blunstone. If it doesn’t sport those two, it’s not a real reunion…)

Ok. Mr Roboto…you’re right. according to Sky’s website, The Seeds are on tour now with none of the original members. They’re playing in London in March with a re-formed (and reformed haha) Arthur Lee and Love. Sure wish I could see that show.

Jon

Re. the Love reunion – it’s too bad that Bryan Maclean (who was the George to Arthur Lee’s John & Paul) can’t be there.

I’ve seen Arthur Lee and LOVE twice since he was released from Prison.
His backup Band is the very Capable, Baby Lemonade. The Band is very Tight and
they are performing “The Forever Changes” Tour. Some Venues are complete
with a String Section.
Prior to the Passing of Bryan Maclean, original Bassist Ken Forrsi passed away.

The Zombies Tour will be awesome!
Lead Vocalist, Colin Blumstone, has a Magnificent Voice! Arguably, one of the best! That could be a thread in itself!
My Top 5 list of 60’s vocalists’ would be:
1. Colin Blumstone
2. Richie Furay
3. Gene Clark
4. Sean Bonniwell
5. Carl Wilson

Wouldn’t most band members from the 1960s now be in their 60s? It might not be a pleasant sight — or sound.
