Why do commercially produced video tape VHS boxes have the bottom side of the box missing. I am tired of lifting a video tape up to read the printing on the box, only to have the video tape slip out of the bottom of the box. What is the advantage of producing such a designed video tape box. Wouldn’t it be simpler and safer to manufacture and place the whole video tape in a totally enclosed box? Why at least can’t commerically produced video tapes be placed in boxes like blank VHS tapes come with the opening on the right side of the box?
What’s a VHS tape? Just kidding. Perhaps it’s so that the picture on the front won’t be interrupted by that cut-out on the open side on the blank boxes, or maybe so that the name of the movie is shown on both sides of the box for filing purposes.
