See subject. This just started a week or two or go, and is most definitely repeatable. Window opens up, as soon as I hit Ctrl-V, freeze.
As it happens, now I see that if I just ignore it and hit submit, after a few seconds the transaction takes place and Safari unfreezes. But it’s a pain in the neck.
Anyone else come up against this?

OK, for what it’s worth, I can establish on your behalf that the behavior is not for all Safari users on all machines using all versions of MacOS using this board’s globe link button.
Let’s narrow it down…
• What MacOS version are you using? What version of Safari?
• Try Chrome or Firefox or some other MacOS browser on the same machine. Come here and reply and use the globe link button. (Wow, now it has a name. It will forever be the “globe link button” to me from now on!) Same issue, or not? If same issue, we’ve got a behavior exhibiting itself on this site in any of multiple Mac browsers on your machine but not mine which runs a different MacOS.
• Are you using SultansTheme’s Responsive vB3-blue, or the retro Straight Dope v 3.7.3 as your board theme? I, for whom the behavior does not exhibit itself, am using the retro Straight Dope 3.7.3. If you’re not, please try switching themes to see if the behavior persists in both themes. Meanwhile, after this post I will do the same, switching to Sultans to see if I get the weird pausing behavior you described.
• My native MacOS is 10.11.6, aka “El Capitan”. Good chance you’re not, since I’m now 2 full OS versions behind the curve. If you’re in Sierra or High Sierra, maybe someone else running what you’re running can see if they observe the same behavior.
• You’ve already said it’s only on this site that you see the behavior. Have you tried posting to any other vBulletin-based message boards? (If you are not a participant on any other vBulletin message boards, I can give you the URL to a couple I know of that you can register on and post to long enough to see if you get the pause)
• Do you have a second user account installed on your MacOS machine? If not, can you make one? Then try coming here and see if the behavior persists when logged in as that MacOS user. If the behavior goes away, it’s a setting or preference in your own Users profile, or an application of some sort that runs within your account but not by default. If it doesn’t, we can eliminate that.

Gonna click the globe link button… Google is here. No problem. So for me, no such behavior under either the StraightDope 3.7.3 or the Sultantheme’s blue whatchamacallit theme.
Thanks, I figured I would have to go through permutations and report more details, and I’m happy you’re so good at clearing away the bush (to mix metaphors).
While I gather the info and do the other tests, this I do in fact need. Just make sure that the boards aren’t so good that my faith in SD will be challenged.
