Vicodin insomnia

I am taking Vicodin for some shoulder/arm pain. The first night I got very little sleep. Did I learn from that? No. Last night I was up watching 3 episodes of West Wing. Tried to sleep on the couch but couldn’t. Went back upstairs and went to bed at 7:00.

When hubby’s alarm went off at 9:00 and he immediately rolled over and hugged me I thought I was going to kill him. Now I’m in a really bad mood, totally awake, the dog has gone mental over a squirrel, the daughter is now walking the dog, and hubby is, I assume, getting some more sleep.

What am I going to do today? I am tired and, guess what, my shoulder hurts. Should I take another Vicodin? I don’t think so.

Two weeks of shoulder/arm pain, an appointment on Monday with a physical therapist, my house is a mess, and I am perfectly willing to kill anyone who gets in my way right now.

I hope that staying in Akron will be far enough away for ya…

Well, if you can’t sleep tonight, call me and I’ll tell you some boring sotires about how my day went, and you’ll doze off in a heartbeat! Or better yet, I’ll have my SISTER call you and tell you how HER day went…she regularly puts me to sleep!

Certainly, everybody reacts to drugs differently, but I have never heard of insomnia as a side-effect of Vicodin except in terms of withdrawl. Weird. My sympathies, but weird.

Are you me?

I have arm and shoulder pain. REALLY bad. Since before Christmas.

I was prescribed Vicodin and it causes me insomnia as well.

Anyhow, I’m doing PT and, while it hurts like a bitch, especially the following day, I am seeing some improvement.

I do find that odd. I took it after knee surgery because it was the only thing that would let me sleep. I got very sleepy. I stopped taking it in about 5 days when the pain got better.

Vicodin makes me barf about 90 min after taking it, as long as I’m awake at the time. Didn’t do a damned thing for my ability to sleep.
