I’ve got two big MPG files of the same event that two different people shot. What I’d like to do is splice segments of one into the other (IE: first 5 minutes are AAA.mpg then cut to 5.1 minutes into BBB.mpg for 8 minutes then back to AAA.mpg at 12 minutes for another 3 minutes, for example)
Is there software that can do this on a Windows system?
QuickTime Pro
($30 registration I think) for the Mac platform allows simple editing of clips like you mentioned. It seemes to allow the same thing with the Windows
version.
My XP Home shipped with a video editor that also does video capture from my FireWire port with a DV camera plugged in. I use Pinnacle Studio just because I had it already and didn’t want to learn something else. Studio shipped with my FireWire port.
Microsoft has their “Movie Maker 2” software which is pretty good for basic stuff (I used it to make a DVD of my Christmas vacation for the in-laws) - it’s free also (although you have to pay to get some pre-made “transitions” and other eye candy), and a lot, LOT easier to use than TMpeg. However, I don’t know if it will allow you to “cut” the movie into clips or not and assemble the clips into the order you choose (I was using still pics for the DVD. I’ll be trying video for my Father’s Day trip next week.).
