Video editing software

For the impending arrival of the Little Dvl, BroOfRhythmdvl sent us a Canon Vixia HG20 (woo woo!). I’ve toyed with it for a few minutes here and there and find that the bundled software is like most other bundled software—enough to get by.

But then again, this is our first video camera, so what do I know from features? I doubt we’ll be adding highfalutin titles and effects, but there will likely be lots of cutting and shuffling. What are the standards? Nero? Adobe? Something else? What do you use?

Computer hardware is a couple years old, but will likely be upgraded within the next few months. I have no idea if I need to gear the build more towards video editing than gaming, but if there’s something that’s essential to the former but not the latter, please let me know.

As GuanoLad said in a thread further on down the page, Sony Vegas is a fairly robust video editing program. It gives you enough options to make some nice home videos, without overwhelming you.
