It’s an eagle swooping down and trying to haul off a kid in a puffy coat. He doesn’t manage to take off carrying the kid, but it looks like it was close. It’s pretty incredible, but I have my doubts about the authenticity of the video. Do Golden Eagles even hang out in that part of the world? In all my years in Montreal, I never saw a bird that big. All the searches I’ve done this morning just turn up dozens of websites sharing this video - no official local news stories from Montreal, so my bullshit detector is pinging quite a bit. I suppose the video could be real, but from someplace else?
Out of interest, without expressing a view on the veracity of the vid (I just don’t know) is the fact he says “oh shit” (and oddly although I do speak French [very badly] I have never heard Canadian French before, I have to admit I found it hilarious - it sounds just like a Canadian accent when speaking English to me!) just down to French swear words being, well, merdre.
I.e. do most Canadian Francophiles swear in English?
It’s fake, the flapping of the eagle as it tries to carry the kid away is completely wrong, there’s also a few composition errors on the wings.
I saw it this afternoon at work (VFX department on a post production company) and it was obvious to all of us it’s a fake. I’m lead character animator there so the motion of the eagle was the most evident to me.
I’ve had to research animal motion in general and bird flight in particular for my job and as I said, the movement of the wings is completely wrong, the bird would had never soared like that, let alone lift an infant.
You wouldn’t know I’m French-Canadian just from listening to me say “oh shit”. If I said “It’s about time you put your coat, 'stie”, maybe you’d guess.
