I love the view first unread option, but I think it could also be useful outside the thread, say a link you click instead to the title that automatically takes you to the first unread without having to actually go into the thread.
Or maybe just something like that in your User CP under prescribed threads? Your views?

There is one, actually. Next to the title is a down arrow (if there are new messages). Clicking it takes you to the first unread message.
(There’s another arrow next to the username of the last person to post in the thread. Clicking that arrow takes you to the last post.)
