VigLink

I get that the board has to make money, but this service that intercepts outbound links and re-directs me to a splash page with ads is an awful use of web technology.

But, whatever.

The problem is when it attempts to do so for non-shopping-related links, such as this:

http://redirect.viglink.com/?format=go&jsonp=vglnk_148975330339021&key=ce270d38103a630c3181db372a25a052&libId=j0dsgtzk010004p6000DLg3qjolvi&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fboards.straightdope.com%2Fsdmb%2Fshowthread.php%3Ft%3D821783&v=1&out=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nytimes.com%2F2017%2F03%2F17%2Fopinion%2Fconservative-fantasies-colliding-with-reality.html&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fboards.straightdope.com%2Fsdmb%2Fforumdisplay.php%3Ff%3D4&title=These%2080%20Programs%20Would%20Lose%20Federal%20Funding%20Under%20Trump%E2%80%99s%20Proposed%20Budget%20-%20Straight%20Dope%20Message%20Board&txt=Paul%20Krugman

Wait . . . I can’t even copy a link address without it being jumbled up with that junk? Come on SDMB. Turn that feature off, and let me copy a link in peace.

Anyway, the link is the one in this post. Interestingly, when I click the link to the NY Times from this “post” page, it doesn’t redirect me, but when I go to the thread and click the link from there it does.

Anyway, please turn off the sensitivity on this “feature”. I’m not sure what logic it’s using, but it’s broken.

Opt out of VigLink

Thanks! That’s super-helpful!

(I still want to grumble about needing to opt out of having website functionality be broken. grumble grumble grumble)

VigLink screwed up. You shouldn’t be seeing any further redirects. We apologize for the inconvenience.
