Vintage (French?) car ID

We’re watching the last episode of Monsieur Spade. There is a sporty-looking, pale yellow, coupé. The character opens the trunk (boot), and the lid is hinged on the left side. I could not make out a badge.

Any ideas what it might be?

I was curious, too, and used Google Lens when the car appeared on screen. I think it may have been a Panhard X-86 Berlinetta

I wanted to know what the funny little brown car Sam drove was.

Clearly the production designer was looking for cars with character.

I haven’t yet watched this show (though it’s still on my DVR), but a Google search says his car was a 1962 Citroen AMI-6.

Looking through the images, it looks like it was a Panhard CD GT because of the square headlights.

Thanks.

I believe you are answering commasense’s question about Sam’s car.

Yes, I was answering @commasense’s question. Sorry for the ambiguity.

That’s the one! Thanks.

Yes, that’s it. My Google Lens search showed it as Panhard, but I didn’t remember the model. Then when I searched to answer the OP, I forgot the show was (mostly) set in 1963, and searched for 1950s Panhards.

I have no idea what that means. The way you worded it in your first reply, it sounded like you were googling from the TV. :stuck_out_tongue:

I was. Google Lens is a search feature that uses your camera to find similar images. I took a picture of the car when it appeared on the screen and Google Lens found other similar cars.

Try Googling Google Lens.

Makes me think of second-stage Lensmen

Odd that no-one yet has, even as an aside, mentioned what an excellent bit of noir the show is. Terrific setting, gory crime, snappy dialogue and all the characters nicely fleshed out. I see Clive Owen has talked with Scott Frank about any subsequent series being set in San Francisco. Let’s hope Teresa is along for the ride. And yes, I looked up the cars too. And Bozouls.

Clive Owen interview.

I can see two pictures of the 1962 Citroen AMI-6 with the boot open. Both show it hinged to open back to front. With the very swept back roof edge, it seems a left side hinge would not work. Unless it opened at quite an angle.

Scroll through the pics to see the boot lid open to the left.
