Vinyl belt marks on a leather seat. Permanent?

Last night, my girlfriend’s (old) vinyl belt left some noticeable black marks on my leather seats. Beyond picking at it with my fingers, I’ve left it alone for fear of “setting” the mark, which seemed reasonable at the time.

Am I stuck with an unsightly black mark at waist height on my car seats? Or can the teeming millions recommend a magical way to remove the mark? Worst case scenario, I set the car on fire and collect on the insurance before faking my own death and moving to a third-world country, so let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.

Joke answers are appreciated if you don’t have a factual answer, as long as you clearly indicate it’s a joke. Otherwise, I’ll probably end up trying whatever you suggest. I’m impressionable that way.

It sounds like a simple case of transfer. I’d recommend trying Goo gone™ on a Q-Tip™ to remove it. As always, try the cleaner on an inconspicuous area of the seat in order to make sure it won’t do anything bad!

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response, nion! I’ll give that a try in the morning. Fingers crossed that this works!
