Visiting Malvern, Pennsylvania

In the last week of September, I’ll be spending a few days at a conference in Malvern, Pennsylvania. During the day I’ll be trapped in the conference hotel, but my evenings will be free and I’d like to entertain myself.

I lived in Pennsylvania for 8 years (State College), but I’ve never been to Malvern before; all I know of that part of PA is Bucks County, where my wife is from. If anyone knows Malvern or surrounding area, could you suggest something to do?

Mainly I like snooty things like jazz clubs, wine bars, artsy moviehouses, cafés, indy bookstores, and chamber music–and no, I don’t expect to find a lot of that in Malvern (or most towns) but one never knows. Rather than drive all the way into Philadelphia for the snooty stuff, I’d also be happy with some really good pizza and a pint or two of Yuengling. If the leaves are turning (I miss fall leaves! but I’m probably too early), a good park would be welcome.

Thanks for any tips you can give me.

The Main Line is full of clubs. The Main Line Times is one paper to check. Citypaper is another.

When you hit town, check out a local convenience store for the tabloids that may afford a more local focus than either of the above links offer.

Have a pleasant stay!

Thanks! Those links will be a good start.
