Why do some people emit a sound when yawning ? I also remember a dog doing this when seemingly bored.
You know how yawns can be contagious?
I read this thread and let out a whopper. If I were fully awake, I would have recorded it for you.
I make a sound when I’m yawning. I really don’t know why. I remember a teacher getting after me in high school once because I wasn’t being quiet in class, but I was only yawning.
Indeed.
If you can read this thread without yawning, I’d be interested in knowing. I’ve yawned twice so far.
I yawned once. Seems even reading about yawning is contagious
I didn’t.
And yes, that voiced yawning can be kind of noticeable. I have a friend who compares her yawning to Chewie.
Voicing it makes it more satisfying. It’s like adding a sigh to your yawn, and there’s something quite satisfying about a good sigh.
I only sigh or yawn-sigh when nobody is around, it can be kind of a weird noise to hear.
yawns silently
Shoot. I expected this !
Hey! Don’t you underestimate the evolutionary significance of yawning. Loud-yawners have an edge over silent yawners. They’ll outlast them in this struggle for survival (they show their teeth)
