I’m writing a novel with lots of subtle references to pop culture, but this one might seem a bit caustic to Republicans, especially since the narrator does not show his political leanings in other places.
Does anyone else recognize the pop culture reference in this line:
Overlook the slight porphyry of the extended sentence, as the narrator is supposed to enjoy purple prose.
For those playing at home:It’s a reference to the cover of Republic, by New Order. I think it’s appropriate since the rest of the sentence clearly indicate the narrator is refencing the emptiness of beach culture. The fact that this scene takes place in heavily-Red Sarasota is a bonus
