vote absentee

I have voted absentee for several years. I reccommend it to all. You get the ballot early and it allows you time to research the proposal part of the ballot. Sometimes when you go into a poll booth you face these questions for the first time. They dont always get a lot of tv time and they frequently are worded badly. Often it is deliberate to make a yes into a no vote.
There is also the idea that computers may be tamperered with. Hopefully ,absentees will not be ignored. Well my chads are hanging now.

Well, the Denver absentee ballots have at least two mistakes on them. I’ll pass.

What I am gonna do is vote early. We had a cluster-fuck with the new machines during the primary. I’d rather go in when it’s less crowded.

That said, why in the world would anyone go into the voting booth not knowing what they’re going to be voting on? There’s no excuse for that.

Reality ,many do. There are 5 proposals on my ballot. One to allow hunting of mourning doves. One to ban affirmative action based on race ,gender, ethnicity etc. One to establish manditory funding levels for schools. Then emmiment domain .Lastly conservation funds can only be used for intended purposes.
I actually had to take time to do research to educate myself before voting.

I have no sympathy for them. In this day and age, there’s no excuse for it. I’ve had the “blue book” from the state sitting on my table for two weeks; each day or two I read up on another proposal. They’re also in the newspapers and on the web, and, if all else fails, there are ads on TV and radio.

I have 13; 11 state and two city. I shan’t list them.

So have I. But you’re acting is if that is something unusual and onerous, when I think it goes with the territory.

We have no choice. All of our voting is via absentee ballot (we receive the ballot in the postal mail a few weeks before the election).

Let me live in your world. I am talking to many who dont . When I engage in debate they are not aware . Hopefully they will take the time. Guess what, they wont. They will still vote though.

What state are you in?
This is only the second November I’ve been old enough to vote; I did absentee last year and I’m doing it again this year, since I’m at school 3 hours away from where I’m registered. I like the absentee voting because I can spend the whole day campaigning (last year, we were knocking on doors trying to convince people to go vote up until the very last half-hour the polls were open) without having to take time to get to the polls myself.
